A month later, my husband and I were watching TV as I started to feel sharp pains and before I knew it, my water broke. "Soda! I-It's time! It's coming!" I notified my husband. " It's okay, breathe in and out calmly honey, It's okay" he responded calmly even though there was fear dangling behind his eyes. I did as he instructed and he picked me up bridal style and carried me to the car and drove me to the hospital.

He carried me inside and yelled for assistance, " my wife, she's going into labor!" He had called; Thankfully, a nurse noticed and helped us to a room. I got all set up and they monitored me until I was fully dilated; " Mrs. Curtis, you're going to need to push as soon as the next contraction hits" the OBGYN instructed. I nodded and as soon as I felt the next contraction arrive, I squeezed Soda's hand and pushed as hard as I could for ten seconds. " You're doing great, Honey," Soda reassured. After pushing a few more times, I felt a wave of pain leave my body and with that, I was notified my baby had been born without complications. Soda was asked to cut the cord which he agreed to excitedly, The nurses took our baby away to be cleaned.
" You did great, honey"
" I couldn't have done it without you" we kissed and later I asked, " did you see what our baby looked like?"
He shook his head, " I wanted to see em with you"
He sat down on the bed and hugged me.
Soon enough, The nurses came back into the room and placed our child on my chest, " Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Curtis, you are now the parents of a beautiful, healthy baby girl" the nurse beamed and left to give our small family unit privacy. A girl! I have a daughter! Soda and I now have a baby girl! I gently caressed her Angelic face, she opened her eyes and smiled at us. She had her father's olive eyes, and my hazel hair.
" Oh Soda, Isn't she beautiful?" I asked my husband, half bawling
" She's perfect, just like her mother" he replied as tears of happiness and love streamed down his face with a smile brighter than I have ever seen, as he ran his fingers through her hair, it's not long but its a headful
" Do you want to hold her?" I asked him
He nodded, taking our daughter from my arms to his, His arms providing safety and comfort for her. He cradled our baby girl in one arm and wrapped the other around me, I placed my hand on his chest as tears fell from my face seeing my husband bond with our child in such a magical way from when she first arrived on this earth.
" Thank you" he beamed at me, " you gave me what I've always wanted and I know you're gonna be a great mom"
" and you're going to be a great dad, I love you Sodapop Curtis and there is no man I'd rather raise my child or form a family with"
We kissed sweetly, thanking each other
" Oh! What do you want to name her?" Soda asked
" it would be something we would have to agree on together but I love the name Charlotte"
" Charlotte, huh? I like it! Charlotte it is!"
I snuggled close to my husband and fell asleep unintentionally on his chest. When I woke up, the sun had risen and a new day had begun. Our first full day with Charlotte! Soda was still sound asleep by the time I was up so I grabbed my daughter from the crib she was placed in right next to us, must have happened after I fell asleep. I cradled her and she looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes, taking after Soda's dancing, reckless eyes. Her face began to scrunch up as if she was about to cry and a sense in me practically lit up. She's hungry, so I brought my darling girl up to my breasts and began breastfeeding her. I felt an arm around my shoulder and saw my husband looking at me and our baby girl and Charlotte finished breakfast shortly after. One of the nurses came in as we continued to admire our little miracle. " Mr. and Mrs. Curtis? There's someone who would like to speak with you over the phone, I directed them to the phone on your side table, someone by the name of Darrel?"
" Oh! thank you so much" I thanked her as she walked out of the room again. Soda picked up the phone and Darry's voice rang from the other side.
" Soda? We heard you and Sara were in the hospital, are you okay? Is the baby okay? Did something happen with the baby? Did something happen to her? What happened? Is it serious? The gang and I Are worried sick!" I heard him fret as we were in such a rush on our way over we didn't tell anyone
" Don't worry Dar, everything's fine, the baby's fine, Sara's fine, I'm fine" Soda replied calmly " Is it okay if we drop by later today ?"
" sure, no problem; just please be careful you guys"
" we will, don't worry"
Darry hung up once we said goodbye,
" he seemed worried"
" Honey, are you kiddin'? All the boys love you as if you were their own sister, they all care about you and Charlotte so much."
I wrapped my arm around him in a hug, "thank you babe" I whispered.

A few hours later, we were told that after we signed a bit of paperwork; we could leave the hospital with our baby girl since Charlotte and I are both perfectly fine. Sodapop and I signed the paperwork and I was escorted out of the hospital in a wheelchair ( as hospital policy ) by a nurse as Soda walked beside us. We got into his car and drove to Darry's house as it was a Saturday; nobody in the gang was aware that I had given birth, apart from Soda of course. this was it! The group of boys that acted as and are family to Soda and I will finally be able to meet our child. Before I knew it, we had arrived at Darry's; Soda helped me out of the car and we had a picnic basket with a blanket in the trunk with how many times we have picnics. Soda placed the blanket longwise so it draped over the bottom edge, I gently placed Charlotte in the basket and Soda draped the end of the blanket over her ( it was a breathable fabric that made up the blanket) and we knocked on the door. Darrel opened the door and instantly wrapped his arms around Soda and me. The whole gang saw us and after receiving a hug from everyone, we were bombarded by questions from them about what happened. " Well, before we can answer that, we gotta show you somethin' " Soda smiled placing the basket on the table. The whole gang gathered around it, I lifted the side of the blanket that was draped over her, and at last, we introduced our family to our little girl.  They all awed and cooed over her;
" aww man look at her"
" she's got her father's eyes"
" and her mother's hazel hair"
" she's so cute"
" she looks like a porcelain doll"
" What a perfect bundle of joy!"
"Precious munchkin"
Soda picked her out of the basket and handed her to Darry as his wife stood by him. A smile painted upon their faces as they held their niece, I was more than glad my children would grow up with twelve supportive people in their lives apart from both their parents. I grew up in a conflicting family where it was always my dad's side against my mom's side non-stop! I grew up pretty much with my love limited and directed. I broke at thirteen the Christmas after my mother's death and my mother's side of the family accused my dad's side of doing nothing to help her while we slaved away to help her. My mother's sister was the one to spread the lies which weren't easily put out as mom's side believed it all. Our family was fortunately a blend of Soda's gang and my father's family which was the only family I had before Soda.  The whole gang held our baby and even Dally was gentle around her.

Soda and I now had our own little family unit and amazing family members, could things get any better?
