You swear that you're stayin' single
Sandy Cheated. That's all I could think as I curled up and bawled myself to sleep. Ponyboy is gone, Sandy left, my parents have been dead for 9 months now. I've never felt so alone, I still have the rest of the gang but now I'm terrified to lose them. I'm terrified of going through this type of pain again and being in relationships is making an even bigger mess. I'm staying single.
Next thing you know
You meet a girl at a barA few weeks later, I was walking home from a late night shift at the DX and was walking home since Darry needed the truck for work. I ended up near Buck Merril 's place so I stayed on the sidewalk parallel to it as per Darry's orders to me and Pony to stay away from it. As I walked past the bar, I overheard a loud conversation in between a soc girl and her drunk ex-boyfriend ( at least it seemed like it). " C'mon, baby, I'm not that drunk" he slurred as he reached for her arm, she snatched her arm away, " Don't touch me" she snapped. " Baby, baby, baby, I know girls get like this when they're craving it, so let's take it to my place, ya dig?" He wrapped his arms around her tightly. " Let me go, Brandon, LET GO OF ME!" She struggled, he only held on tighter. I stepped in, I couldn't let that poor girl suffer. I rushed over to them and pulled them apart, pushing ' Brandon' away. " The lady said stop" I chastised, Brandon was drunk enough to take offense to that and act on it by trying to punch me. I dodged it and socked him under the jaw, knocking him out. I knew better than to start a fight with a drunk, so I just defended. I spun around to face the girl, " Are you alright, miss?" I asked gently. " I am now, thank you. I'm Sara, by the way, Sara Jones" she introduced herself. " Sodapop Curtis" I replied sticking out my hand for her to take, which she did. " That's an original name, I love it".
And next thing you know
You get her laughin' It's 2 AM" it's getting dark, do you have a ride home?" I asked her, she shook her head 'no'. I asked her if she wanted me to walk her home and she agreed but warned me it was a long way so she had no problem walking by herself. I found a payphone near by and dialed up home telling them I was going to be a bit late and for them not to wait up or worry about me. I went back to her and we walked to her house, she led the way and I followed by her side. We talked for the whole 45 minute walk, about her ex, life experiences, and some funny and cheesy jokes. It was weird how close we already felt even though we had just met a few minutes ago. " Hey, Sara, why do melons have weddings?" I quizzed, " I dunno" she grinned, " Because they cantaloupe" I laughed, she giggled. We laughed like lunatics at 2 in the morning, our laughter echoing through the empty night.
You're tellin' your buddies
Three months in
That she ain't movin' inSara and I eventually fell for each other. Hard. We began dating two years after we met, three months ago. We were on the way back to her house from the Dingo, she was singing along to the radio. Her voice is beautiful. Unfortunately, we got to her house earlier than I would have liked. Damn time. Always bringing wonderful moments to an end. She thanked me for the ride and kissed my cheek before she left. Gosh, that girl does anything and my heart races; no other girl has ever had that effect on me. I drive back home smiling like a goof, and that smile prevailed even as I walked through the front door of the house I share with my brothers and failed to recognize the fact that the whole gang was there and they immediately started teasing me as they always do.
" Sup, loverboy Curtis?" Steve grinned, " back from your date with the soc girl?",
I uppercut him, " Yes, and why does it matter if she's a soc? She's perfect just as she is"
