Slayer Sundays

I woke up at 8 on Sunday. Church ew. I threw on a random dress and went downstairs. My parents were having breakfast. After we ate, we left.

The sermon was boring and I honestly just wanted to hang out with Janey, hell I wanted to hangout with Kelly. After it was done, my parents talked to some friends of theirs and the pastor. "Dad, can I go to Janey's?" I asked.

He nodded. "Be home by dinner." I nodded and went to the car to grab my Walkman. I turned it on and put my headphones to my ears. When I arrived to Janey's, I knocked on the door and she answered. "I need to borrow your phone, and I need you to cover for me." I told her.

"Why? Are you off to break a law?" She asked jokingly as she and I walked to the kitchen. I walked to the phone on the wall and pulled out the napkin with Kelly's number on it.

I picked up the phone and dialed it. "Hey, Kelly? It's me Laurie, I was wondering if we could hang out." I asked. "Yeah, that's cool. Should I pick you up?" He asked me. "Yeah, I'm at Janey's. Do you remember her address?" He told me he did and I hung up.

Janey was staring at me with wide eyes and her mouth hanging open. "Oh my god Laurie! Spill!" She said. "He came to the record store the other day when I was working and we hung out. I gave him a ride home and we gave each other our numbers." I shrugged.

"Have you fucked him?" She asked me. My eyes went wide and I slapped her arm. "Jesus, Janey, no!" I told her. She put her hands up defensively. "Alright, alright. Are you guys friends?" She asked me. I nodded.

"Well, I wish you two luck in whatever will happen." She said with a smile. I laughed. "Thank you Jane." She looked at me and I looked at her. "Y'know what day it is?" I asked her. "Sunday." She smiled. "SLAYER SUNDAYS!" We both yelled as we got up and ran over to her record player.

Even though Slayer only had one album, we loved the hell out them. So, we dedicated every Sunday to listening to them. And with Janey's parents away on that business trip, we could be as loud as we wanted.

We were jamming out and jumping around. I lit a cigarette and continued to dance and head bang with Janey. While we were jamming out, I heard the door bell ring so I went to answer it.

"You like Slayer?" Kelly said as soon as I opened the door. "I love it." I said as I grabbed his hand and pulled him into the house and into the living room.

He sat on the couch and watched as I danced to the song with Janey. Eventually the song ended. "So, what are you crazy kids up to?" Janey said. I shrugged. "I don't know, I guess we'll do whatever." Kelly nodded.

"I'll talk to you later Janey!" I yelled as Kelly and I left. I was looking for a car or something but instead I watched as Kelly walked over to a motorcycle. I just stood there. "Do you have a death wish?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

"No, do you?" He asked me back. I shook my head. "Then get on, you'll be fine." He reassured me. I sighed and walked up to it and got on, wrapping my arms around his torso.

We were riding for awhile until he pulled into a parking lot of what looked like a record store or something. "Where are we?" I questioned him. "One of my favorite fucking places." He said as he got off, I doing the same.

We walked in and I looked around. There were rows and rows and rows of records. "Whoa." I said.

"I told you." He smiled. "This place is like, fucking Heaven!" I exclaimed as I walked over to one of the rows of vinyls. "So, what music do you like?" Kelly asked. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him.

"I watched your band play, you saw Janey and I singing along to Photograph by Def Leppard, witnessed us dancing to Billy Idol the day after that, and today you just so happened to disturb our Slayer Sundays." I explained.

"So you like rock music." He stated. "I do." I said as started looking through various vinyls. I flipped past some Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, you name it, that record store probably had it.

"No way!" I said as I stopped in the middle of the section I was filing through. Kelly looked to the record then to me. "I love this album, But every record store I go to, they don't have it!"  I said as I pulled the Van Halen record.

Van Halen II

"You gunna get it?" He asked me. I looked down to the record in my hands and then met Kelly's eyes again. "I would, but I don't get paid till this Friday." I stated, going to put the record back.

As I was putting the record back, Kelly stopped me before I could put it back where I had gotten it from. "Don't worry about it." He said as he took the record from my hands and started walking to the cash register.

"Are you sure?" I questioned as I followed beside him. He turned his head, looking at me. He smirked. "It's on me." And with that, before I could protest, Kelly had bought me the Van Halen record.

We walked out of he store, and Kelly handed me it. "I can't believe you did that you didn't have to, y'know." I told him. Nobody had done something like that for me, not even Tod.

He shrugged and smiled  as he kind of leaned against his bike. "It is a Slayer Sunday, after all." He said. I laughed. "But this is a Van Halen record, Kelly." I responded a so held the record up.

He smirked and motioned for me to come close to the bike, so I did. "You owe me now." He said with a smile. "Oh yeah? What is is that I owe you? Huh?" I questioned. The smirk never did leave his face.

"I'll let you know when the time comes, but right now, we gotta go, there's somewhere else I wanna take you." I sighed and he took the record from me, putting it in one of the saddle bags on his bike.

He got on and I did the same, wrapping my arms around his torso, resting my forehand on his back when he started the bike.

Then we headed wherever Kelly was taking me. I just gotta say one thing.

Despite it being weird that Kelly and I literally met each other a few fucking days ago, I couldn't help think and smile about him.

All hail Slayer Sundays...with the exception of a few motorcycle rides and a Van Halen record of course.
