Kelly was dropping me off back at Janey's. He parked his bike where he did before and I got off.

"I'll see you around?" Kelly questioned me, a small smile on his face. I looked at him, all I could think about was that kiss we had. "...yeah. Like I told you yesterday, I wouldn't be totally a-posed to the idea of you waiting for me after school." I explained to him as I returned the smile.

He nodded as he put the kickstand down and got off. I watched as he walked over to one of the saddle bags and opened it, pulling out the record he had bought for me.

I forgot about it. After all, my mind was all swept up and away by that kiss. He held it out for me. I smiled at him as I grabbed it.

"Thanks Kelly...for today." I told him genuinely. Realistically, I haven't had a good day like this in a long ass fucking time. "No problem. I'll call you later, yeah?" He said as he leaned over and kissed my cheek.

I could feel my cheeks heat up. I nodded. "And I'll possibly see you tomorrow." I added. He got back on his bike and started it. "I'm counting on it, Laurie!" He yelled over the sound of the motorcycle. I laughed as he started to drive away.

Content and happy, I glanced down at the Van Halen record in my hands again and then started walking through Janey's front door.

"Laurie! Holy shit!" She exclaimed as soon as I set foot into the house. "You we're watching through the window, weren't you?" I asked as I looked at my best friend whose eyes were bigger than the moon.

"Tell me what happened! I mean I saw the interaction you two had when I heard his motorcycle pull up, but whats up with you and Kelly!?" She asked excitedly.

We both walked into the living room and I handed her the record to play. She put it on the record player and it started playing. I told her everything I could. About Kelly coming to the record store, me dropping him off at his place, everything that happened today.

"OH MY GOD!" She yelled excitedly as she grabbed my shoulders and shook them. "God damn Janey, chill the fuck out!" I told her. She then stopped shaking me abruptly.

"What if you guys get married? Have kids? Oh my god, you could have tiny little bass player babies!" She exclaimed. I looked at her Skeptically.

"Slow your roll Jane. We just met, and one kiss doesn't mean a thing." I told her, even though I knew it meant a lot...to me anyway. "Alright, alright, fine. Tell me about his band member." She asked enthusiastically as she wiggled her eyebrows.

"I don't even know his name. It was the one you were talking to at the bar before we left." I told her. "I think that was Tracii, I can't remember, I was shitfaced." She shrugged.

I laughed at that. "We both were." She nodded, "Yeah, but look where that got us. Your basically dating Kelly, who is not a sight for sore eyes and is sweet, and AND he's potentially setting me up with his band member!" She gushed.

"Is 1983 the year where things actually go great for us?" I asked her. "Gosh, I don't know Laur, but it seems that way." Janey replied. I got out my pack of cigarettes and matches.

"Then let's keep it that way." I told her as I lit the cigarette. "Agreed." She stated. She and I sat there then in a comfortable silence for a little while.

"You want to go get food?" Janey asked through a bored sigh. "Read my mind, but we have to walk back to my house to get my car and to see if I can actually go." I told her.

She got up and faced me, holding out her hands. I took them and she pulled me up. "I'm okay with that. Your parents adore me." She said as she emphasized adore.

"And yours adore me." I said the same way she did as we started walking out of the house. Since Janey and I met, we've always had working theories about are friendship and our parents.

Either Janey and I were switched at birth and my parents were her real parents and vice versa, we were sisters put up for adoption and adopted by different families, or our favorite one- our parents were Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.

We're more delirious if anything. Two best friends sure can dream though.

The walk to my house was nice, it took a little while though.

"Hi Mr. and Mrs. Samston." Janey said as we entered. My dad looked at the two of us and smiled. "You two causing trouble like you normally do?" My mom asked as she walked out of the kitchen.

Janey and I looked at each other and laughed earning another smile from both my parents. "I was wondering if I could go get lunch with Janey." I explained. My dad looked at my mom. "Sure, here." He said as he pulled out his wallet and gave me a twenty.

"Be home before dark." My mom added. "Thank you dad, and I will mom." I told her as I went to get my keys. Janey and I said bye to my parents and went to my car.

"Like I said, they adore me." Janey said, repeating herself. I laughed as I turned on to another street.

"Too bad they aren't Sharon and Ozzy." I told her. "Ain't that the truth." She said as she put her hand on her forehead and looked out the window.

I lit a cigarette as I drove. Eventually, I pulled into the parking lot of Janey and I's favorite diner.

We got a booth and we both sat down. We ordered what usually ordered. Two chocolate milkshakes, cheeseburgers and French fries.

"You know what you want to do after we graduate?" Janey asked as she ate a fry. I rolled my eyes. "Careful, your starting to sound like Margie and Russell." I said annoyed. She put her hands up defensively.

"Sorry, I'm just curious." She explained. I sighed. "I thought it would be cool to be a doctor, since my moms a nurse." I admitted. "Doesn't that like, take a fuck ton of college years though?" Janey questioned me.

"Yeah...I'll figure it out. Besides, I could always go to community college or some shit." I told her. "True...until then though, let's stick to our Ozzy and Sharon delusions, the hot band members, and trying to survive our last few weeks of high school." She said as she raised her milkshake glass.

I laughed at her and did the same, clinking our glasses together.

(A/N: this is a filler chapter if anything. I usually don't like the filler chapters I write because they're usually shit no matter what story they are for, but seriously, I fucking love this chapter. I hope you enjoy it :) - Jaimie ✌️🦆
