The Graduate

Kelly had just shown me the tattoo he had gotten and oh my god.

Shit was crazy. He and I were looking at our new family interact with each other, I turned towards him. "This is crazy, but it all makes sense. It's right." I told him he turned to look at me, a smile already on his face. "I know."

We then continued the fun and craziness of our reception. This is the way things were supposed to be.

I'm Laurie, an 18 year old who had just graduated high school a few weeks ago. I had an okay life. My once stoned and now stoner parents, my amazing best friend Janey, my brother from another mother and father, Phil, and the rest of Kelly and I's perfect mitch-matched family.

I was happy.

I truly don't know what I would have done if Kelly and I had never reconciled after the first fight we had. Hell, I don't know what I would have done if we never reconciled after any of them.

But I'm glad we're here now. Married

Fucking crazy saying that. I'm married. Kelly's my husband, and just under a month ago he was a complete stranger.

The world absolutely does work in mysterious ways. And looking back on all of this fucking craziness? I believed it one hundred percent.

I wouldn't change any of it.

Today was another day to add to my calendar of important events.

The day Janey and I met/became friends

The day Mötley Crüe was born

The year Ozzy Osbourne first went solo

When Kelly and I met

And now,

The day Kelly and I got married

All events near and dear to my heart.

The night was still going, but for Kelly and I, we had to get away.

So, while people were eating cake, he grabbed my hand and we left. And it wasn't because the reception was bad, it actually was a big hit.

We left because we're married, we wanted a minute to our selves.  So he and I snuck into the kitchen of the place we were having the reception. I hoped up and sat on the counter and he sat next to me.

He grabbed my hand with his, I put my head on his shoulder. We sat there in silence for a while, the only sound being music from the dance floor. Thank you." I told him, breaking the unwanted silence. He put his head on mine.

"For what?" He questioned. "For giving Janey and I that ride home, for hanging out with me, sharing cigarettes, giving me your lighter, for caring, for the tattoo, for loving me...I just wanted to thank you, for everything. You've done a lot to my life since you've started living in it too, Kell." I told him truthfully.

I felt him give my hand a small squeeze. "You're welcome Laur, and I suppose I should be thanking you too. Before I met you I was always drunk, high, and with random girls every hour and I hated it. I've learned that that's not what being a rockstars all about. Being a rockstar ain't shit if you're not living the life you want to live with the person you're in love with." Kelly explained.

I smiled to myself. I could listen to him talk about anything and everything for hours.

"And you've already heard me say this, but goddammit Laurie, I love you." He added. I was still smiling. "And I you." I replied as I briefly took my head off of his shoulder and kissed his cheek.

We just sat there, holding hands in the comfortable silence.

I decided to say something. "You have any cigarettes?" I questioned as the music in the other room continued to play. He chuckled and reached into the pocket where his pocket square was.

He pulled out a pack of cigarettes. I laughed as he held out the box and I took one. "Do you have a lighter?" He questioned. I nodded and reached into the neck of my dress and pulled out the all too familiar zippo lighter.

He laughed as I did that. "We both had our secrets."

I nodded as I lit the cigarette and took a drag. I could briefly hear a song by Cheap Trick playing. And it was one of my favorites, I Want You To Want Me. I smiled as I listened.

"Y'know, you owe me a cigarette." He said. When he said that I was instantly transported back when he and I had our first kiss, and fucking crazy as it sounds, Kelly had put on a goddamn Cheap Trick record that day.

I looked at him and yeah we both loved each other a lot, but looking at him after he said that and the song that was playing? Shit.

We stared at each other as the music played.

I want you to want me

I want you to need me

I'd love you to love me

We eventually kissed. And this wasn't like the last time this situation had happened. This kiss was more, like we knew we neither one of us was gunna go anywhere without the other. Like there was hope for a future, our future.

We eventually pulled away and I smiled. "We should get back before someone thinks we're fucking in a closet or something." I joked. Kelly laughed at that. "Would it be so bad if we were?@
he wriggled his eyebrows.

I laughed and shook my head as I hopped off the counter and started walked towards the kitchen door, Kelly quickly following after me. We walked back to the rest of the reception.

Hoping people didn't notice us missing and if they did, that they didn't think dirty mindedly.

When Kelly and I reached our table and we sat down, I smiled. I was unbelievably happy. Proud of myself, proud of Kelly. Currently proud of my life, even though I still didn't know what to do with it since I graduated, but I'm married, I can conquer the United States with Kelly and the rest of L.A. Guns on there tour.

I know is I said that this was weird, but it's a good weird.

All because me, the graduate fell in love with him, the rockstar.
