(No one's pov)
Laurie had came back inside about an hour ago now. She was asleep. Her parents were still putting things away from dinner. They spoke as they were in the kitchen.
"Kelly's a nice guy." Laurie's mom explained as she washed dishes. "I don't know, Margie. What if he turns out to be a dead beat? A loser?" Laurie's dad replied in turn as he dried dishes.
She turned to look at her husband. "I doubt that. Y'know Russell, they're a lot like us when we were younger." She said with a small smile. He turned towards her. "If they're anything like us then, god help us all."
Margie rolled her eyes. "C'mon, don't you remember what it was like when we were teenagers and were dating?" She questioned. "You mean when you and I use to go to concerts, get high or drunk and go wherever?" He explained.
She nodded. "Fun and carefree. We've been pretending to be people we're not for years. Just so our daughter wouldn't end up like us when we were kids." She starting to tell him.
Russell nodded and continued to listen to his wife. "She's just like us, Russell...maybe we should just stop pretending." She told him.
He gave her a look. "And go back to how things were before?" He questioned. She nodded again with a small smile that was continuously growing. "I mean we already started to, that ' bible convention ' we went to last week, kept me high all day." She said with a smile.
Russell smiled too and stopped drying the dishes as Margie stopped washing them. "Too bad I lost my favorite lighter there." He said as he hugged her. She laughed. "Don't worry, we have plenty." She stated.
They laughed and talked more about how it was letting down the facade they put up for so long. When the dishes were done they went to living room and sat on the couch.
"Do you think I've been over reacting about everything?" Russell questioned. She shrugged. "I mean in some degrees, but it's time to face the facts. Laurie's not a little girl anymore, and we both have to except that. As long as she remains respectful and responsible, then whose to say she can't have some fun. Besides, like I said, she's just like us minus the dope." She said, semi repeating her words from earlier.
Russell let out a small laugh. "Let's be glad for that." Margie nodded. "I just worry." He added. She gave him a small smile as she turned to look at him. "Honey, you're her dad. It's your job to worry." She assured him.
He nodded with a smile. "Then I guess it's time to face the facts. Laurie's going to be just fine." He said, believing his words, Margie believing them too. They were true words.
If anything they were proud of their daughter. She graduated with good grades, barely any tardies, and never skipped(that they know of).
And that's because Laurie Samston was just like her parents, for the better.
Eventually Russell and Margie retired to their room. They were exhausted. They exchanged their 'goodnights' and both drifted to sleep.
Now everyone in the Samston household was alseep.
A lot has happened in the span of a day. Kelly and Laurie reconciled and were now dating, Laurie graduated, Mrs. and Mr. Samston met Kelly, and Laurie's parents were starting to find themselves again.
Although they won't light up as much as they did in their youth, it'll be good for them.
Everything was good.
Everything was good before all of this, but now things were better.
Laurie probably doesn't even know that she's just like her parents were when they were teenagers.
Of course, she's not exactly like them, like she doesn't do drugs, the times are different and she's obsessed with Def Leppard, Scorpions, Kiss, Billy Idol, Slayer, Van Halen, you name it. Rather than the music her parents grew up with.
Theres more things that are a tad different than just her and her parents music tastes, but Laurie being like her parents isn't a bad thing.
But if someone told her she was just like her parents, she probably would think it is.
Anyway, Kelly had made it home. When he got to his apartment, he was actually okay. Didn't feel like drinking, or writing a sad song or anything. He was happy. Laurie one hundred percent had everything to do with it.
Kelly's never felt like this towards a girl before. Well the girls he usually was around was only girls who wanted someone from the band and only wanted one thing.
But Laurie? When he met Laurie, he somehow knew she was different. And that's not a bad thing. Kelly was infatuated by her.
Not just by her looks, no. But by her love for music, her cigarette tendency, her humor, her laugh, and her morals. The list goes on.
Now Laurie? She hadn't been with a guy like Kelly before, and she never felt this way about anyone ever. But with Kelly it was different. With Tod it was the same thing everyday and it wasn't really love or anything.
But with Kelly, it was all of that.
It was exciting. Laurie and Kelly just made sense together. They mirrored each other's likes and interests. And that is a very good thing.
Things were good. Never better. And it all started pretty much right around the time that Kelly and Laurie first made contact with each other at that bar.
Who knew that a ride from a stranger would change everything and put a drunk eighteen year old's life in motion?
Kelly and Laurie sure as hell had no idea. Same goes for the rest of L.A. Guns, Janey, and of course Laurie's parents.
They have no idea how Kelly and Laurie met, but they don't need to know that...not for awhile at least.
Right now, they were proud of their daughter. They were also content and happy with the idea of her and Kelly.
All because
They're just like us
Both Laurie's mom and dad thought.
(Filler chapter more than anything, hope you still enjoy it though :)
