Planning for Hoseoks surprise birthday was both the easiest and hardest thing Y/n had ever done.
Sure, she knew the basics of how to set up a party, but she had never thrown one for a hybrid and was checking google every few minutes with more and more questions.
Adding more and more last minute things to her notes.
Not that it helped, and only aided in confusing her more, and today was the last day.
She planned to celebrate at midnight, and let Hoseok chose how he wanted to celebrate in the morning. Her and Jin made a cake together the night before, and earlier today she had dove back into the kitchen to finish up a second one with her own family recipe, a tradition of sorts she had while growing up.
"What? The cake we made together wasn't good enough?" Jin joked from the kitchen entrance, watching Y/n set the second cake to cool.
She smiled at him, "With how good you are in the kitchen? I don't think my family recipe will even come close to being half as tasty."
Jins eyes widened, "family recipe?" He repeated.
Sure a common thing, something he'd often have to learn at homes that wanted him to prepare meals, everyones own family recipes.
This though, was another first for Jin since meeting Y/n. She had used a family recipe for them, for Hoseok."It was a tradition growing up, having two small cakes- one usually store bought and one homemade by everyone..." Y/n trailed off, reminiscing.
By now Jin had moved to lean on the counter, facing Y/n who had started to clean everything up. She knew the smell would probably stay, but she didn't want to entirely give away the surprise if Hoseok happened to walk in.
"You don't talk about your family much." Jin stated. It wasn't much of a question, just an observation he had made.
She shrugged. "Not much there. I'm not that close with any of them anymore."
"Why's that?" He didn't feel any sort of fear when asking Y/n questions anymore. He wasn't scared to dig too deep, or to be misunderstood by the human girl.
He felt confident in himself, in his voice."Grew apart. Politics, am I right?" Another lame attempt at a joke on her end, but it did it's job in ending the conversation so she wouldn't complain too much about it.
She could work on her sense of humour later when she didn't have a birthday party to plan.
Before Jin could find the right words to bring a smile back onto Y/ns face, Namjoon and Yoongi entered the kitchen.
"Ah great, you two are awake!" Yoongi rolled his eyes at her upbeat tone.
He'd only just woken up. Why did everyone have to be so loud in the mornings?"Here, take some money and go pick up some birthday decorations for tonight, I need Jins help preparing all of Hoseoks favorite foods to go along with his cakes."
Y/n was back in work mode, throwing Yoongi her keys and shoving them out the door.—- .....
"Y/n?" Namjoons voice could be heard from the other end of the phone.
"We uh.. what exactly are birthday decorations..?"
Y/n facepalmed. She was an idiot.
Of course they wouldn't know what birthday decorations are, they probably never celebrated one properly- if at all.
And knowing Yoongi, she doubts they would ask a stranger for help, store worker or not."I'll be right there, meet me at the malls entrance."
She hung up, dialling up a taxi and rushing out of the house with a quick, and probably confusing explanation to Jin.Within ten minutes Y/n had arrived at the mall, rushing to pay the taxi driver and meet up with Namjoon and Yoongi as soon as possible.
"Y/n-ah!" A deep voice called to her from the side, she turned to see Namjoon and Yoongi patiently waiting leaned up against a wall.
"Hey, sorry I didn't even think before sending you guys out." Y/n apologized with a slight bow.
The two brushed it off while she led the way."Alright, so we'll need the basics!" She started listing off while keeping an eye open for a specific store.
"Balloons, ribbons, a banner, streamers.. oh birthday candles too!"She stopped in front of a large shop with neon lights coming from the sign.
"Everything we need for decorations should be in here, what colours do you think he'd like?"The three stepped in, Yoongi and Namjoon both taken aback by how bright and cheery everything seemed. Hoseok would probably open a shop just like this if he could.
"He likes bright colors.. maybe some reds with a little light blue, green and... yellow?" Y/n nodded, gesturing for them to throw whatever they thought would work in her basket.
It didn't take long till the basket filled and they made their way over to the banners.
"Oh.. this one is a set.. you get to make the banner yourself.." Y/n commented pointing to a blank canvas banner with all you needed to create a masterpiece."That one- Jungkooks good at drawing and Hoseok would probably like it more than a store made one." Namjoon replied, stating it as a fact.
Y/n smiled at him while Yoongi tossed it into the basket. "You guys know each other so well." She said absentmindedly.
She wished she could find a connection like that in her own life. That was the one thing she'd envied about the seven.
How strong she felt the bond was to each other.A few hours passed and Y/n was now carrying the decorations. While Namjoon and Yoongi each carried a bag with gifts from the six other boys.
Although hesitant to take Y/ns money, they were grateful she seemed to want the best for Hoseoks birthday.
His first real birthday party where he would get to open gifts and eat cake. It still felt like they were dreaming. If any of the hybrids deserved this, it was definitely the one who was forced to leave for years to guarantee their safety. The one who had to spend so much of his time alone, when all he'd wanted was the comfort of his pack.

Once the three arrived back home Y/n pushed Yoongi and Namjoon into her room and told Jin to get everyone to help set things up while she took Hoseok out to distract."Text me when everything's ready!"
She grabbed a confused Hoseok and her jacket and ran out the door, skipping along the street to one of her favourite spots she hoped he'd enjoy.
"What are those?" Hoseok questioned, gazing at some street dancers as a crowd formed around them.
"Street dancers! C'mon I used to love watching them all the time!" Y/n grabbed hold of his arm and pushed the two of them to the front of the crowd.
Hoseok watched with awe at the way they danced, remembering how he too had done a bit of the same in order to get money between jobs at one point.
He remembers how happy he had felt when he got to let loose and just let his body flow to the music.Since returning back to the shelter he'd danced a few times infront of his pack, but hadn't let in how freeing it felt.
Maybe, now that they were with Y/n he'd have time to start dancing again.Hoseok turned to Y/n, seeing her bright smile and eyes big and focused on each new trick the dancers pulled out.
She looked stunning to him.
He smiled to himself, shook his head a bit and the two continued to watch performance after performance until Namjoon texted Y/n to let her know everything was ready. She put her phone back in her pocket, and looped her arm with Hoseoks.
"Alright let's head back home Hobi"A/n:
