"Surprise!!!"
It was safe to say Hoseok was taken aback by the site.
The living room had been transformed with streamers and banners hanging from the wall and ceiling, balloons taped up as well with some spread out on the floor.
In the middle of everything was a banner with his name on it, his six mates encircling it with proud smiles.Y/n hung back at the door while Hoseok and the others had a group hug, smiles on everyone's faces.
Everyone passed out their own gifts to Hoseok, having had talked to Namjoon and Yoongi and getting them to pick out all the items.
They were all in a large box, one which Hoseok placed to the side. Choosing to open it in private and away from Y/n later on, not wanting her to see his heartfelt reaction and not fully trusting the others to keep their relationship hidden still.
It was a wonder to him that she hadn't questioned them, he genuinely didn't think she knew yet but he didn't know how.
He assumed Y/n thought all pack hybrids acted this way, this close. He knew she hadn't grown up around many, if any at all.Hoseok moved on, as he took another gift but this time from Y/n. An eyebrow raised in silent question while he turned to look at Namjoon and Yoongis reaction.
Both were taken aback slightly, apparently they hadn't known about this either.. he opened the package up to a handmade book with "Hope" in graffiti letters on the cover, and a small golden chain bracelet.
She'd made it the night she found out his birthday was soon from PD-Nim."You're like.. J-Hope! Get it? J/H like your initials!" She smiled up at him.
"It's a little wonky cause I made it myself.. sorry.." she stuttered a bit embarrassed.
Hoseoks heart felt even more full at that statement. She'd made him a gift. He was deemed so important to her that she put this much thought and effort? Into something just for him?"Giving me nicknames now, huh?" He lightly joked.
"Yah- you can't pick favorites y'know. Where are our nicknames?" Jin chastised Y/n who only laughed.
"I don't have favorites but I'll think of a nickname for you too, Sorry Jin." Y/n comically bowed low before they all set their attention back on J-Hope to finish opening his gift.
Along with the book she'd placed some snacks she knew he hadn't tried, and thought he'd like. As well as a simple golden chain bracelet.Y/n thought to herself for a minute, trying to recall anything she knew about Jins personality.
He was definitely the most overtly'confident' out of all of them, even if she wasn't sure he believed it himself.
She'd also heard him compliment himself seemingly hundreds of times as a joke.."How about worldwide handsome?" She suggested, hoping to turn his joking into real confidence. He definitely suited the nickname.
"And me?!" Jungkook chimes in excitedly.
"What do you mean? We already call you a muscle bunny." Jimin stated, a smirk playing on his features. He felt genuine happiness at this moment in time.
"Uh.. kook..? Kookie?" Y/n vocalized her thoughts, happy when he seemed content with the nickname.Jungkook smiled, wrapping his arms around Y/n in a back hug. His own nickname, Hoseoks own birthday celebration, and Y/n never once forced them to do anything they didn't want too.
He felt as if he was floating on cloud 9, he felt euphoric. The rest of the night was spent playing card games in the living room, Y/n even participating in some of them before choosing to relax into the couch more and just watch.
"Okay, I think it's time for cake." Y/n smiled happily, skipping off into the kitchen.
Hoseok looked at Jin confused. "When did you have time to get cake??" His hyung just smiled.
"We didn't, Y/n and I made you one." The seven followed her footsteps to the kitchen, sitting at the table as she placed a few candles down and lit them.
"Make a wish!"
The seven looked at her confused. What wish? Why was there fire on top of his cake.
Y/ns smile quickly became a frown. She put out the candles with her fingers, choosing to explain before lighting them again, not wanting wax on the cake.
"You make a wish in your head, and then blow out the candles. But you can't tell anyone your wish or it won't come true." She paused. "It's like a tradition"
Everyone nodding, finally understanding. Y/n relit the candles and Hoseok took a minute before blowing them out.
He didn't think he needed a wish. Everything Y/n had given him and the others was more than they'd ever imagined they had been worth. He guessed the only thing that came to mind was, he didn't want this to end. He didn't want Y/n to disappear from his life.
He didn't want to lose her the way he'd already lost so much in the past."Than-" before he got a chance to say more Y/n rushed back to the kitchen and took out a second cake.
Placing it beside the first.
"This probably doesn't taste as good as the one Jin and I made together, but it's a family recipe and I wanted all of you to try it."She looked directly at Hoseok. "Happy birthday! I hope you have the best year yet."
Hoseok smiled to himself.
If Y/n was around, he didn't have any doubts about having a good year."Thank you."
