"Ah, I'm so excited!" Enid squealed beside me on the bus.

I laughed, before looking at her sealed assignment in her hands. "Well, open it!"

She sighed, glancing over her shoulder, looking at my brother. "I don't know what-"

I grabbed her assignment, pulling it open. She looked at me with wide eyes, while I suddenly shoved it back into her lap, before standing up. I stepped beside my brother, smiling.

"What'd you get?"

"Some stupid mailing place," Ajax groaned.

I lift my assignment. "Let's switch."

He frowned. "What, no. Why?"

"Enid and I both got Uriah's heap. Let's change."

He looked passed me at Enid, before back at me. Within seconds he took my assignment and handed me his. I smiled, before dropping back down beside Enid.

"He has Uriah's heap."

"Really?" she asked, her eyes liting up.

I nodded. "Really."

With a smile she turned around, looking at him. The eye contact was only ephemeral but I could see it felt like forever for Enid.

"Bye," Enid squealed, before walking off with Ajax. I smiled softly.

When I turned around, I stopped, seeing Xavier behind me. He smiled, his eyes looking down at me.

"Have any interest in coffee?" he asked.

I giggled. "We have to get to our assignments, smoker. We can't just ditch and go on some coffee thing."

He laughed, handing his assignment to me. I took it, opening it, before reading it. He was stationed at the oh-so-only coffee shop in Jericho. I smiled, looking up at him.

"I'll swing by."

"For how long?" he asked, a small smirk appearing on his lips.

I chuckled, shook my head, and walked passed him. "I have some post office to find. I'll see you, smo-"

"Well," he said, walking beside me. "I can show you to it..."

Looking up at him, I smiled softly. "Well aren't you a gentleman?"

He scoffed jokingly. "Right. Just helping my friend's little sister around town."

I started laughing, shaking my head. "Get to your café, smoker. I'll find my way."

"You sure?" he asked, and I heard him beg me to say no.

"Yes," I said, looking up at him as he stopped. I walked backwards. "I'll miss you!" I joked, making him scoff.

"Aren't you supposed to have a friend?" Mister Cordell, the post-office owner, asked me.

I packed a box on top of another, before looking at him. Honestly, I thought I was lucky to be alone in this assignment.

"I'm not sure," I said, and he scoffed. "Maybe they're just-"

The post-office doorbell rang, and we both looked through the storage door to a boy in school uniform with a bag over his shoulder. A soft smile peered my lips.
