After I barged into my room, Ajax followed in confusion.

"Dude, what's your problem?" he asked, making me scoff, turning around. "You were at Jericho, and you saw them. So what?"

"Seriously?" I questioned. "Dude, are you fucking mental? You're fine with your little sister hanging out alone with a boy-"

"In public," he said, making my frown deepen. "At least they were in public, Xavier. People saw them."

"And next you'll say that they'll be best friends and you won't care?"

"What the hell, Xavier?" Ajax chuckled, hoping to lighten the mood. "Why does it bother you?"

"Why doesn't it bother you?" I asked in confusion. "Guy hangs out alone with your sister. Come on, dude. That's fucking hell."

"Right, I get that you're-"

"I'm only looking out!" I yelled, hoping to avoid him jumping to conclusions.

Ajax sighed. "Right. Look. I'm okay with it. Marcus is a respectful guy, and I'm not going to get a bee in my bonnet because he's not going to do some bullshit things, okay?"

Looking at Ajax, all I wondered was what the hell was going on in his mind? He's too calm. He's too careless. I didn't understand why.

"And if he asks her to the dance?" I asked.

He scoffed. "She's not going anyways? What does it matter?"

"Who'd you rather her go with. Me or Marcus?"

I saw the way he frowned that it was random. I immediately regretted it.

"What the hell, Xavier? What does that have to do with this?"

"I don't understand why you're so calm with the fact that she might be going to the dance with him. Wouldn't you rather have it be with someone like me?"

Ajax looked at me as if I was stupid. "My God Xavier. You already asked Bianca. Where the fuck is this coming from? She's my little sister!"

Right... I asked Bianca. I would've asked Wednesday, to keep up with all the bullshit I started, but she wasn't going anyways.

"I'm going to dinner," Ajax said as he made his way to my door. "I'll see you there, Thorpe. Please have this problem ephemeral. I'm tired of hearing about it."

"What the hell does that mean?" I groaned.

"Drop it!"

He shut the door behind him, before leaving the corridor. I groaned.

The dance neared, and girls started getting over excited. They were like hyper-fixated bunnies.

The day before was the worse. Everyone tried organizing an after-party, and some managed to convince Weems to have one. By dinner, she announced that an after party was allowed, but the school wouldn't be held responsible if something happened there.

By the time dinner ended, I noticed that Ovia and Enid still hadn't made peace, and that Ovia sat alone for dinner. Her friend wasn't there.

Just seeing her made me mad. Crazy-mad. I wasn't angry. I wasn't upset. I just craved her. I missed her smell. I missed her taste. I missed her voice. I hadn't heard it in a while. Too much time had passed.

After everyone had settled in their rooms, I snuck out of mine.

Sure, I was a moran, but this moran needed a smoke.
