Russia's pov
☆°•☆•°☆

"Rainie! That's awesome!" I hugged my younger brother. I couldn't help but smile at the news that him and Canada are now mates..
"Yeah. I know we have been sort of dating for a year but I still have a crush on him. I love him but my God, I feel like a little pup whenever he looks at me," his giddy voice entertaining to hear.
"I completely understand."

I heard rustling and snapping twigs.
"Daddy!" my daughter yelled. I shot a look of concern over at my brother before running to my daughter.

I noticed the tears that ran down her face and stained her cheeks.
"What's wrong?" I asked and kneeled down to look into her eyes. She struggled to catch her breath in between the running and crying. I wiped her tears away and looked into her blue eyes.
"I-it's papa. A mean wolf attacked him and- and he threatened to kill me and papa!"
My body went ridged.
Stars.
"Where is he?" I asked calmly.
"The. The woods south of the lake by the big hill," Ursa stuttered out.
"Stay with Raine," I barked before I transformed into a dark wolf.

I bolted through the plains and weaved through trees.

Wind flowed through my fur.
A low laying branch snagged on my fur. I stopped temporarily to set myself free.

"Russ-" I heard my mate cry out. As soon as I started to run again, there was a pain deep inside my chest.

I knew something bad happened.
Really bad.

I didn't stop or slow down till I made it to the slope of the hill.
I looked down to see what happened to my love only to see him laying on a blanket of red snow.

"Amerika!" I yelled desperately.
I nearly tumbled down the hill, but caught myself. I ran to my mate.
Energy rapidly left my body as I transformed back into a human.

All I saw was blood leaking out of his neck and pooling onto the snow as I clasped onto my knees.

Panic took over me
"Het het het het (no no no no)," I whispered over and over.

I felt a weak pulse flutter against my fingers.
I held my mate close to me. His blood dyeing my clothes a deep red color.

"Stars, please wake up," I begged. Tears flowed from my eyes like rivers.
I saw his eyes creak open and his mouth created a sad smile.

The beutiful country opened his mouth to speak but only manged to let out blood. Instead of trying to speak he weakly waved a hand in a friendly welcoming manner.
"Hi, Stars," my voice cracked as I choked on tears.

I looked at the large gash in his neck that drooled out hot, sticky blood that let off steam in the freezing air as it bled at a persistent pace.
Dread crashed over me.
I can't do anything.
I'm useless.

Filled with sorrow, I went to place my hand on his neck to try to slow the enviable, but Stars stopped my hand and shook his head.

He knows he won't make it.

More tears seemed to seep through my defenses. My beutiful love placed a weak hand on my cheek and try to wipe the tears away.

Even moments away from death he takes care of me more than himself. I cherish every touch that he gives me. Every breath is a blessing. But unfortunately there is only so much a blessing can do.
I saw his heavenly eyes crafted from ice and fire, shine with sadness and hold a knowing look at the same time.

I continued to hold him in my arms. The weight of his body was increasing along with the pain in my neck and my soul.

"It's going to be okay," I lied. I could tell he knew I was lying too, but smiled up at me with sparkling eyes full of love and sadness anyways.
"I cannot describe how much I love you. You are my Stars," I said for the last time as I held him closer. I placed my hand over his that was still caressing my cheek.

The love of my life nuzzled his head into my body as a tear and a trail of blood rolled down their star speckled cheek.

Stars closed his tired, heavy, dulling eyes.
His body went limp and all of my loving mate's former warmth was swept away.

"Amerika... Stars..." I shook him gently.

There was no movement in his body. Not a shalow breath, not even a faint flutter of a pulse.

I sat there in shock, looking down at the, now corpse, of my mate.

Everything is numb.

Empty.

Like all the light in my life was whisked away.

I didn't acknowledge the tears that stung my cold cheeks as I decided to pick up Stars and walked back to the camp.
