As the days passed, more students started arriving. The halls were filled with laughter now. Everyone was happy to be back and see the friends they had made in the academy.

AJ was woken up by a loud stomping, coming from the upper room. She groaned and lifted her face off of the pillow, turning onto her back.

"Why... just why?" She murmured, still half asleep and wished she was back at home, enjoying the quiet with her cat. Instead, she was here, dealing with all this noise.

Nevertheless, she knew it would be back to peace once the students had gotten over the excitement of seeing each other.

A few minutes after rolling around the bad, she finally got up and took a shower. Her roommate had already left for her usual morning run. AJ did not understand how someone could have so much energy. She herself felt sleepy all the time, except for when she was actually about to go to sleep, that's when all the thoughts would come rushing in and distract her from getting any sleep.

But exercising every morning sounded like a nightmare. Plus she didn't think she needed to start. AJ was naturally pretty slim and weak. You could probably make her fall by simply blowing air on her.

She didn't love it, but what could she do? She definitely didn't fit the sporty lifestyle and she enjoyed her lazy days, where she got to do nothing but read all day or watch tv shows.

AJ left the shower and dried herself. Then she put on black tights under a black tennis skirt and put on a white loose button up, leaving a few buttons open and untacking the ends. For shoes she went for black dc martens and decided to leave her hair down, only pinning the upper parts back with a hair clip.

She left the dorm and headed down the stairs, deciding to go to a cafe instead of buying coffee in the uni's cafeteria. She headed for the parking lot and pulled her coat closer into herself to try and keep warm.

"Yo, roomie!" She heard as she was nearing her car. AJ looked back and saw Lindsey running her way.

She stopped and waited as the blonde girl made her way. Lindsey started panting and AJ awkwardly looked around.

"Man, that was a good run" she said and finally straightened up, "where to?"

"Oh, I was just gonna go to the nearest cafe" AJ explained and wished the girl would go away. Her peace kept being disrupted since the morning.

"Cool. Can I come?" Lindsey asked.

"Oh... umm... yes" she said and cursed her inability to say no. Why? Just why? That question kept popping up in her head. She missed her roommates ignoring her all the time. It's not that she didn't like Lindsey. She did. In fact she hadn't been able to stop thinking about her since the supermarket. It's just that overly friendly people scared AJ and she never knew what to say around Lin.

"Great! Can you wait for like ten minutes? I gotta change. Promise I'll be quick!" She said and stormed away back into the building.

AJ sighed and got into the car where it would be warmer.

"Ah, I love this place. Do you come here often? I don't remember seeing you here" Lindsey said, resting her chin into her fists and her elbows on the table. She was staring into AJ's eyes and the brunette couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable. It was like Lindsey was looking into her soul with those big blue eyes that one could swear were sparkling.

"No... only on rare occasions like once in a while desire to enjoy coffee by myself" AJ shrugged and cut part of her pastry with a fork.

"Oh..." Lindsey said and looked down at the table awkwardly. This confused AJ. Had she said something?

She thought back to her reply and...

'...by myself'

AJ sighed. Stupid girl. She thought.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that. Sometimes I speak without thinking and sometimes I think too much, forgetting to speak. There's really no hope for me. I really didn't mean it that way. I'm sorry..." she went, blabbering on.

Lindsey looked up and revealed a crooked smile.

"What?" AJ asked, raising her eyebrows.

"That might be the first thing you've shared about yourself" Lindsey said.

"Oh..."

"It's just... you seem kinda closed off. Not in a bad way of course, but I've been really wanting to get to know you and I feel kind of accomplished right now" she said, speaking awkwardly, which AJ wasn't used to since Lindsey always seemed so confident.

The brunette couldn't help but chuckle slightly, which made Lindsey smile as well and they burst out laughing.

"Sorry, I really can be closed off. I guess it's not easy for me to open up to people..." AJ said. Lindsey changed the subject after that since it was clear that AJ wasn't ready to open up any more that she already had.
