The weather in town hadn't improved one bit. It was still just as cold and just as lifeless as ever. Even the snow had begun to lose appeal to the students, that had already moved back into the dorms and were getting ready for the second semester lessons.
Dana was just about finished unpacking all of her stuff when she heard a knock on the door. Her first guess was that one of her roommates had arrived. They were always late and came at the last minute or even a few days after the classes had started.
Dana, who showered before beginning to unpack, wrapped her robe tightly around herself and made her way to the door.
When the knob turned and the wooden door creaked open, Dana was met with a dark haired brunette leaning onto the door frame, grinning mischievously.
"Oh! You got all dressed up for me!" Riley cheered with a smirk and barged in before Dana had the chance to protest.
"I told you I didn't wanna see you again" Dana closed the door and turned around, crossing her arms.
"Yeah, and you had the whole break to spend without me. Now I'm back!" She grinned, but got nothing in return from Dana, except for a raised eyebrow and a loud silence.
"Oh, come on, didn't you miss me?" Riley groaned.
"You're an asshole" Dana answered with a stern expression.
"Isn't that why you started liking me in the first place?" Riley said, sitting down on the couch in the common area, her smile still lingering, but a bit more serious this time.
Dana stared at the girl, raising her eyebrow and pressing her lips together. Teen love was an awful thing, "yes, unfortunately. But I will not be making that same mistake twice"
"Right. How could we let that happen?" Riley grinned, "what class do you have first? I'll walk you" she said and stood up.
"Literature with professor Halward. And I don't need you to walk me" Dana said, rolling her eyes.
"Good, I won't have to. I have the same class. Go on, get dressed. You don't wanna be late now, do ya?" Riley laughed and moved out of the way for Dana to get to her bedroom.
The girl looked at Riley dumbfoundedly at her stubbornness, then sighed and walked into her bedroom.
She picked out a black mini skirt, a dark ruby red shirt and black tights, paring it all with black boots and a long black leather jacket, some silver jewelry and left the room while hurriedly putting her notebooks and pens in her bag, which was too small to be used as a school bag.
"Let's go" she said to Riley without even glancing at her and left the dorm. Riley chuckled to herself and followed after the girl.
They didn't walk on the way to the lesson hall. More like Dana refused to answer any of Riley's attempts to start a conversation.
They arrived five minutes late and the whole room had practically been filled with students dreading to resume the learning season.
Riley noticed a familiar face at the end row. Lindsey waved at her. Next to her was sitting a cute girl who had her head buried into her notes. The girl looked up when she noticed Lindsey's gesture and saw Riley following behind Dana as the two found an almost empty row far away from Lindsey and the girl, who were both sat at the end.
...the lesson continued. First of many more to come.

"What do you think of Professor Halward? Isn't he the worst?" Lindsey asked. She was laying on her bed with her arms tucked behind her head. One leg resting on the bed and the other firmly on the floor. She was watching AJ pack before the two headed for their first class.
"I don't know. He could be a bit nicer, I guess" AJ said and zipped up her bag, "are you ready to go?"
"Yep!" Lindsey said and cheerfully hopped off the bed, "let's ignore your bitch roommate when we go into the common room" she said and wrapped a hand around AJ's shoulders.
"Pretty sure she already left to get coffee with her bitch friends" AJ chuckled, "by the way, do you know when Riley will get here?"
"Hmm... she was supposed to arrive today. Weird..." Lindsey said, frowning, "I'll call her after class"
The two left the dorm and hurried to the lesson. Neither of them wanted to be late to the first lecture of the semester.
"Let's sit in the back" Lindsey whispered when they entered the room. They were one of the first few early bird students to arrive so the room was still partly empty, wide choice of seats.
The two sat next to a girl who was already asleep and a stoner kid. AJ took out her notebooks and a pen and watched Professor Halward get to his seat and pull out his laptop.
"I hate that man's guts" Lindsey said, shaking her head slowly and frowning at Halward. AJ chuckled.
The lecture started and five minutes later the door opened. Lindsey saw her friends come in after Dana Brooke, the literal queen of the academy.
Lindsey waved at Riley and AJ looked up to see a familiar face. She remembered seeing the black haired girl with Lindsey behind the supermarket. Was that Riley? She thought.
AJ immediately recognized Dana. Who didn't know her? Dana ignored both girls and found an empty row in the front seats. The black haired girl followed after her and sat down as well.
"So unfair..." Lindsey whispered.
"What is?"
"Prof Halward gives everyone shit about being late but when it's Dana and Riley he says nothing" Lindsey sighed, rolling her eyes, "cuz who can say no to those two"
She seemed really annoyed and AJ decided not to ask any questions. Plus her one question had already been answered. The black haired girl really was Riley Towers.
...and she looked scary.
