AJ woke up in an empty bed and turned over onto her back and stretched as the sunlight hit her face. The sounds of birds singing soothed her ears. It was warmer that day. What a beautiful way to wake up.

Faint voices were coming from downstairs, the kitchen, she assumed. Lindsey was already up and had left the room. When AJ looked at the time, she realized it was already eleven. She was used to waking up late on the weekends, since she spent most of her free nights just reading and watching movies, so this was no different. Although the reasoning for her staying up that night was a lot different. She couldn't get the conversation with Dana out of her head. It's like she was seeing the girl from a completely different perspective. A completely new side to Dana. It often scared AJ how many layers people had, but it also excited her - there was always something new to discover.

The girl slowly got out of bed after about ten minutes of staring at the ceiling and getting lost in her thoughts. She felt embarrassed to ask for a shower here, so she just put on new clothes and brushed her hair. Though she did grab her toothbrush on her way out.

AJ found the bathroom and washed her face. The small bathroom had turquoise tiles with small golden engravings at the bottom and a bath next to the window. On the left was the mirror  where AJ once again made sure she looked presentable.

She had chosen to wear a skirt that day - a black one over dark tights and docs since it wasn't too cold out. Over a white button up she put on a black sweater west and tied the top part of her hair back, leaving out her curtain bangs.

She put her toothbrush back into her bag and went downstairs. At the end of the stone stairs outside there was a white cat with black spots.

"Hi" AJ whispered and sat down. The car looked at her, but didn't move, so AJ stretched out a hand which the cat sniffed, but looked away once he realized there was nothing in her hand.

"Can I pet you?" AJ asked and slowly scratched the back of the cat's neck. He seemed to really enjoy that and stayed for a while until he saw a bee fly by and ran after it. AJ chuckled and got up. Then she took a deep breath and headed for the kitchen where she would finally meet Lindsey's grandpa. God, it was hard to breathe. A part of her wanted to go back upstairs and pretend she was still asleep. But she would have to talk to him at some point.

She pushed the wooden door open and it creaked as it moved. There was a smile space and then another door which led to the kitchen. She went inside and saw an old man sitting at the table, eating eggs with bread and reading an old book. He didn't notice her come in which made her even more anxious. She stepped forward and hoped that the sound of the floor creaking against her feet would make him look up. And thankfully, it did.

"Oh, good morning, you must be Lindsey's friend" he said and stood up, putting his book down.

"Good morning, please don't get up, I don't want to disturb your breakfast" she said, but he was already up on his feet. So tall, just like Lindsey. He stretched out his hand, which she gladly shook, happy now that she had realized that the old man was just as friendly as Lindsey's grandma.
