"Don't trust him"

"What? Why?" I asked, very confused. I know I had a bad gut feeling about him, and maybe I was right. But I also didn't want to tell Mike I felt like that. That was his family after all.

"You don't know what he's capable of [y/n]" He warned, looking at me seriously.

"What are you talking about?" I questioned, wondering what he could've done to break Mike's trust.

"Nothing... I'll tell you another time maybe" Michael backtracked, looking down at the floor.

I sunk into my chair. I felt upset that Michael wouldn't tell me why, but I understood it at the same time.

I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for another night. Every time I left, I felt like I was a pro at this, but every time I come back the next night, it was like I'm learning everything again for the first time.

"You wanna look at the cameras tonight?" He asked, breaking the silence between us.

"Yeah, I can do that," I say, looking up at him. I could tell the thought of his father still weighed on him.

"I'm sorry," He apologized. "It just hurts me too much to talk about him."

I looked into his eyes, showing my sincerity.

"I understand. I can tell it weighs heavily on you" I say sincerely. I didn't want him to tell me something if he wasn't ready to tell me.

"Thank you [y/n]" He smiled, grabbing the Freddy masks for us. He handed one over to me.

"If you ever feel comfortable talking about it, I'm here for you," I say, offering my support if he ever felt comfortable talking about him.

Suddenly the midnight chime echoed throughout the building. Fear suddenly ran through my body, as it has for the past few days.

"Just make sure you check the vents and wind the music box," Mike said, as he shined the flashlight down the hall.

"Got it" I affirm, not taking my eyes off the computer screen. I look through all the cameras, seeing the animatronics. Putting aside the whole stuffing you into a suit thing, they were still so terrifying at night.

I see that the older animatronics started moving, rather than the toy animatronics. I go back to wind the music box, making sure it's cranked all the way.

The phone finally starts ringing, playing our nightly message. I tuned it out as much as I could, focusing on keeping an eye on the animatronics and winding the music box.

"[y/n], Balloon Boy's in the vent!" Michael yelled and we both slipped our Freddy masks on.

As we waited for Balloon Boy to leave, I heard the phone guy mention something about rumors. I tried my best to listen, but the Freddy mask muffled a lot of what I could hear. I could only hear broken sentences of what the phone guy was trying to say.

"You know... local stories come and... I can personally assure ..., whatever is going on out there, and however tragic it may be, has nothing ...our establishment"

"We're good" Michael spoke, taking his Freddy mask off. I took mine off as well and quickly went back to wind up the music box.

"You know... Uh, our guard during the day has reported nothing unusual. And he's on watch from opening til close."

"Mike... Is he talking about the missing kids?" I ask, clicking through the cameras.

"Yeah, I think so" He replied, flashing the light in the vents. I start to feel my palms sweat as I click through the cameras faster and faster.
