Xiao POV

I was waiting outside of the cave Aether was in, with no idea what was going on inside. I wanted to go in but Paimon brought up a good point about me not being able to hide my presence.

As I was lost in thought I saw Aether flying out of the cave, not literally flying but as if he was thrown out. His sister appeared, holding Paimon by the collar.

"Did you not hear me the first time brother? I do not care what happens to this world, if father is coming to destroy it, let him. That only brings me my plans for Celestia earlier than expected."

"Do you not care about what will happen?!" Aether yelled back, "To this world or the things I love!"

"I do not," she said throwing Paimon to Aether.

"You don't care at all? About me? About anything!!" He yelled catching Paimon, as soon as he did Xiao noticed a black splash, like when a paintbrush covered in paint is swung to the side, and said paint is splashed on a canvas.

"I don't"

"Well, I care about you! Regardless of you leaving me to fend for myself! In your absence, I've made friends, hell I found someone who I love, cherish, and would die for in the few years I've been here! And you-"

"You know nothing of me"

"Because you won't tell me anything about what you've been through! How am I supposed to help you if you won't LET ME IN?!"

They yelled from afar, but loud enough for me to hear.

"Leave me, brother, now or else."

"Or else? Fucking hell LUMINE! IM YOUR BROTHER! Do you no longer care? What of the promise in that birthday letter you left in that damn tree?"

"That was-"

"I was so frustrated... Lumine please help me protect what I love..."

"What you love? Do you have any idea what it was like for me to watch our mother die and see you get abused by our incompetent father? What it was like for me as a witness, unable to do anything? Watching you suffer, how father would cut us up, HAHA..." His sister laughed insanely.

"I enjoyed it."

That's when I felt my heart fall into my stomach.

"Wh-"

"Leave now Aether." Lumine said turning around and about to teleport away.

"YEA YOU BETTER RUN!" Paimon yelled.

Aether fell to his knees.

"IS THIS ENTERTAINING!!? ALL A GAME?!" He yelled. Lumine turned to face her brother.

"My patience is waning Aether. Leave." she sniped back.

Aether stood up, "and my love for a sister is wilting."

"Good. Knowing what to do with your life isn't something you've ever been good at! All the times you've fallen, I would have been better off if you just KILLED YOURSELF." Lumine walked away and teleported.

Those last 2 words, those damned words.

Once more Xiao saw a black splash.

I saw Aether looking at his left hand. "You ok Paimon?" He asked, "y-yeah." she responded.
