LVII. BLITZKRIEG

Madison had been sitting in the passenger's seat of her car while Liam drove. It was a quiet car ride, silence filling the air.

The two had discussed Madison's father earlier, how he was now healed and discharged from the hospital with Melissa's help. Madison worried for her father—he was okay for now, but she worried that the Ghost Riders would find and take him.

Madison wasn't sure if she could handle that. Liam seemed to sense her anxiety, not saying anything—just simply reaching his hand out as she took it gratefully. The beta began to rub comforting circles on Madison's palm with his thumb, helping the werewitch ground herself.

Madison took a breath and glanced over at Liam. His eyes were concentrated on the road, Madison was hit with a wave of gratefulness as she stared at him.

It was nice to get a moment alone with the beta, times had been tough as the two hadn't been able to see each other in private. While normally this wouldn't have affected the two, Madison felt that something was different.

The couple had faced so much chaos since they started dating, barely having time to themselves. It seemed fate continuously tested them, throwing obstacle after obstacle their way.

The two had proved fate wrong every time, coming out stronger after everything they've faced thus far. Madison couldn't help but wonder if they'd come out stronger after this...if they managed to beat the Ghost Riders in the first place. The two hadn't been on the same page lately, being split in two completely different directions.

Madison seemed to stray farther away from the supernatural world, as so much pain and trauma came from that aspect of her life. However, Liam only grew more connected to his werewolf side as time continued on.

The werewitch wondered if maybe all the obstacles the two had faced were a sign. A sign things weren't meant to be...a sign things wouldn't work out.

Madison wondered if the two should stop delaying the obvious, she wondered if all the pain and the emotional torture would stop if they simply took some time apart.

Liam didn't deserve this, he didn't deserve the craziness and exhaustion that Madison faced daily. It wasn't fair to him that he constantly had to live keeping a watchful eye over his shoulder, worrying about Madison and the people he loved.

Although Liam never said it, as of lately be had constantly been worrying about Madison. She was strong—stronger than him and arguably the rest of the pack...and she felt a need to prove it.

She would take a million bullets for the people she loved and wouldn't stop until it was too late.

Liam loved Madison so much, he would give up everything up for her if she asked him to. But Madison had put him through so much anguish, so much pain—and she knew that putting herself in dangerous situations was just hurting him over and over again.
