David and Susan were stuck in a tunnel which was sealed shut by rocks.
“How do we get out of here?” asked Susan.
David was thinking about using his power to clear way the piece of rock and stones the blocked their only way out of the tunnel but as the thought crossed his another thought came to him how would he explain his powers to Susan who was one of his closest friends.
Susan and the others had always known him to be David, the wind dragon warrior and he knew Susan would feel betrayed if she discovered he had been lying to her and their friends.
David feared that if the truth about himself and his powers were to be revealed to his friends he might lose them and this thought was what stopped from using his powers.
David still remembered what it felt like to be alone and friendless and he never want to feel that way again.
“Come on Susan, let’s keep moving. If we are lucky we might find a way out of here or possibly find the others” said David.
"Alright David” said Susan before they began to go deeper into the tunnel.
David felt guilty that he had the power to free the both of them but choose to do nothing for the sake of maintaining his friendship with his friends.
As he and Susan went deeper in to the tunnel there was an uncomfortable silence in the air.
Susan decided broke the silence between them by saying “so David assuming we manage to make it out of here alive we are all still going to have to go our separate ways after we graduate”.
"Yep, that’s the sad truth” said David with a deep sigh as he didn’t want to think about leaving the academy or separating from his friends.
"Yeah, it feels like it was just yesterday me and Steven came to the Dragon Academy. We were so scared on our first day there but all that changed when we met Flora and Afinto. It was Afinto’s first day in the Dragon Academy and since Flora practically lived her entire life in the academy she was the one that showed us around. We were all children of the Legendary Dragon Warrior and so we instantly became friends as we all shared the burden of living up to a great legacy. A while later, you arrived” said Susan with smile on her face as the beautiful memories of how she met her friend flashed in her mind.
David then began to wonder Susan, Flora, Afinto and Steven even agreed to be his friend, as far as they know he was just an ordinary wind dragon.
"Can I ask you a question why did you all allow me to be your friend when I was just a normal wind dragon warrior. I mean you four are the children of the Legendary Dragon Warriors and I’m just a wind dragon warrior” asked David.
“You didn’t care about who we were or who our parents were; you treated us like normal people. Most of the students in the Dragon Academy only pretend to want to be our friends because of the statue of our parents” said Susan.
“I never knew my parents so if I had any legacy of any kind to live up to I wouldn’t know about it. I guess that’s one of the perks of being an orphan” said David jokingly but even though David said it jokingly as a joke Susan could still tell that his words still hurt him.
"Did the orphanage tell you anything about your parents” asked Susan.
“Only that my mom left me there when I was just a baby other than that I don’t know anything about them. You know there were times when I laid down on my bed at night in the orphanage and just image my mom coming to the orphanage to get me but she never came” said David as he clenched his hand tightly in to a fist with tears fall down from his eyes.
