Prologue

Magic. It was what bounded Targaryens and dragons. House Maximoff was the reason behind this. They were known to be born with magic beyond the realms understanding. They were one of the most feared houses along with Targaryen.

Like the Targaryens they left Old Valyria before the Doom. They also had incestuous marriages to keep outsiders from having magic. This custom stayed intact until a young man named Baelon Targaryen fell in love with the beautiful Wanda Maximoff.

Baelon was the first born son of Viserys Targaryen and his wife Lady Aemma Arryn, seven years older than his younger sister Rhaenyra. He was pressured to marry and have heirs. He was to offer his hand in marriage to Lord Lyonel Tyrell's daughter but upon landing in the Reach he set his eyes upon Wanda who was picking flowers with her younger sister.

The Reach had been the seat of House Maximoff since Aegon's conquest who saw the Maximoff's as strong allies. Since then the Maximoff's wanted nothing to do with Targaryens and their dragons. Lord Erik Maximoff refused to let his daughter marry Baelon, sighting she would be exiled from Highgarden if she did so.

She ignored his words, going to marry Baelon anyway. Their wedding was celebrated by the King Viserys who was very fond of the young woman. He had never seen his son more happy than the day of their wedding.

Wanda had trouble conceiving a child until in 113 AC she finally gave birth to a girl named Visenya. Two years later giving birth to Saera, nearly dying. Only a year later she finally died during childbirth of their third child, Vaella.

While the Targaryens were known for their long straight silver hair, the Maximoffs were known for the opposite, curly brown hair. Visenya and Saera both had the signature Maximoff hair with the lavender Targaryen eyes while Vaella was the only one that had silver hair.

Baelon never remarried, settling his heir as Visenya to which Viserys whole heartedly approved. While Baelon never remarried, Viserys did to ensure the seat of succession would never run into an issue. He married the young Alicent Hightower who was a close friend of his daughter Rhaenyra.

The same year Visenya was born Aegon was too. Aegon was only a month older than Visenya but many expected the two to marry one day due to their close age. Rhaenyra had married Ser Laenor Velaryon, having a twins only a year after Visenya and Aegon were born.

Rhaenyra had pleaded for her own son, Jacaerys Velaryon to marry Visenya one day but Baelon refused. He thought what many did around the realm did.. her son was a bastard. He loved his sister but he knew as well as the next person that Visenya would not be able to sit the throne peacefully if she married Jacaerys and had children with him.

To further strengthen the Targaryen line, Baelon and Viserys had agreed upon betrothing Visenya and Aegon, it was ironic for their namesake, it was as if it was meant to be. As the two grew older their annoyance of one another did too. They had similar personalities, which is why they clashed so often.

She was very close to Rhaenyra's daughter, Valaena who was the twin of Jacaerys. They spent lots of time together, all of the children did really.

It wasn't until a dragon was claimed, an eye was lost and a face was scarred that changed the relationships...
