"It only hurts this much right now, was what I was thinking the whole time"

I stared at my fathers wrapped up body. My tears had since gone dry since his death. I was the first to fully accept it, Saera was in denial while Vaella had completely secluded herself. It took me having to drag her out of her chambers to get her here.

I looked at Stormbreaker who was waiting for my command. I felt a presence beside me as I glanced at Aegon. His eyes were soft and calming, I had never seen them like that before.

"They're all waiting" he whispered.

I turned around to my family, if I could even call them that. Rhaenys was already looking at me when my eyes landed on her. We rarely ever talked, she never liked me and I knew why. She was angry that my grandfather was favorited over her to become my great grandfathers heir.

Beside her was her husband, Lord Corlys. He sent me a small smile as I looked away. Rhaenyra had opted to miss my fathers funeral. Everyone was understanding of this but to me it only fueled my anger. My father was loved by the realm, not a single soul harbored enough hatred to kill him, except for maybe two people.

"Visenya" he said.

I turned back to my fathers body, looking at Stormbreaker.

"Dracarys!" I yelled.

I watched Stormbreaker open his mouth as fire erupted from it. Vaella grabbed my hand from behind as I lightly squeezed it. It was quiet, the sound of crackling fire and the wind were the only two things heard.

Hours later we were back at Kings Landing as I sat on the ground of the dragon pit. I had been there since we got back, not saying a word to anyone. It was peaceful, possibly the most peaceful place on the grounds.

"Princess" Ser Criston said.

I looked over my shoulder to see him standing alone.

"I wish to be left alone" I said.

"I know you are grieving but you should not be left alone" he said.

"His body was so cold.." I whispered. "The way his body was motionless burns my mind. Death is apart of us.. I know that much.. but to be killed like that... he was intentionally murdered for someone else's selfish needs!"

"Prince Baelon was an exceptional man" he said.

"He would've been a great King" I said.

"He would have" he said.

"Do you think she did it?" I asked. "Obviously she did not poison him herself.. but do you think she was capable of plotting a murder of her own brother?"

"She has always been in his shadow. She wants the throne for herself, Princess" he said. "It is not hard to comprehend. Her and Daemon both do not wish for you to sit the Iron Throne."

I stood up, walking towards him.

"And what is your hatred for her built off of? Did something happen between the two of you?" I asked. "You broke your oath.. didn't you?"

He stiffened up as I chuckled.

"Relax, Ser Criston, I am not going to tell anyone" I said. "You're one of my most trusted companions. Someone I often trust with my life."

"They will pay for the Prince's death" he said.

I nodded, throwing my arms around him as he slowly did the same. I pulled apart from him, leaving the dragon pit.

Nearly a half hour alter, I stared at the wall of my chambers, memories of my father flashing through my mind. Aegon was pacing back and forth, not saying a word. He hadn't said anything since I arrived. The doors opened as Ser Harrold walked in.

"Princess, the King wants to see you" he said.

I looked at Aegon before standing up. I followed Ser Harrold out of our chambers, down the hall and to my grandfathers chambers. I walked in to see Alicent consoling my grandfather. She walked towards me, putting her hand to my head.

"My sweet girl" she whispered.

She kissed my head before leaving. I looked at my grandfather who looked distraught. It wasn't surprising, considering my father was his first born, his heir.

"My small council is pressuring me to name a new heir" he said.

"I don't want it" I said.

He looked up, surprised to hear my words.

"You do not wish to be Queen?" He asked.

"He's gone" I said. "I cannot sit the throne when he was supposed to sit there before me."

"Visenya.." he said.

"My father was murdered!" I yelled. "And you want me to think about being Queen?"

"He would have wanted you to-" he started.

"He would have wanted to live!" I said.

"I'm afraid you do not have a choice" he said. "The realm wants you as Queen."

"The realm wants me there because they are scared of me" I said.

"Is that such a bad thing?" He asked. "Is that not what you wanted? To be feared?"

I sat down on a chair nearby, not knowing what to say.

"I understand your frustration at his loss.. I lost my son, Visenya.." he said. "It is pain I wish upon no one."

I held back my tears, looking to the ground.

"I just.. I know I can rule the realm, I just don't know if I have the strength to do it" I said.

"My son believed you to be the Targaryen to unite the realm.." he said. "You cannot show any sign of weakness or they will have doubts in you."

I nodded as he forced a smile.

"Everyone expects me to be perfect.. but I am not" I said. "I have lived my life without a mother.. and I was okay with it because I had my father.. and now he too is gone."

"Saera and Vaella will need you" he said. "They lost their father too. You need to be strong, not only for the realm but for them."

"I know" I said.

"I am proud of the young woman you have become, Visenya" he said. "I don't tell you often.. but I am proud.. very proud."

I sighed, looking down as Ser Harrold walked in. Behind him was Rhaenyra as my blood began boiling. I wanted to take my fathers blade and put it to her throat, to get her to admit her sins. But I opted out, leaving the room without saying another word. I was on my way back to my chambers when Jacaerys stopped me.

"We are leaving tonight" he said.

I looked at him confused.

"My father was killed and you.. your mother all did not come to his funeral" I said. "And yet you are going to Dragonstone still?"

"I don't have a choice, Visenya" he said.

"My father didn't have a choice either" I said.

He walked towards me as I felt my breath hitch. He placed a soft kiss on my lips before walking away. I stood there dumbfounded, my fingers touching my lips as I watched him walk away.
