Amy reached up and wiped the tears from Jungkook's cheeks as he cradled her in his strong arms. She smoothed back his wild hair. It was still very short, but it was long enough to poke out all over. She mused and laughed through her nose. "I didn't think I would wake to find you upset. Baby, tell me what's wrong."
"I just realized that I've never been in love before. Not really."
"And what was your basis for comparison?"
He finally looked at her. "You."
Color flooded her cheeks. "Jungkook I-"
"Please, I need to say, that is I think, I want to...damn it!"
"It's ok, if you don't."
"Bu..ah...I do." He felt that pounding in his chest again. He grabbed her hand and placed it over the rapid thumping. "See!"
She nodded. "I know exactly what you mean. When I saw you in the restaurant, my heart was pounding much the same. I didn't think someone as wonderful as you would want someone like me. I was scared and excited and nervous and all these other things mixed together."
"And now?" He asked gently, his eyes softening.
Amy took his large hand off hers and placed it on her own chest, letting him feel the hammering there that matched his. "I don't know what you have been through. How many fake friends have come into your life, but I'm not that, I'm not them. I want to be here for you."
He looked down at his palm, pressing her alabaster skin, feeling heat spreading out, energy flowing between them. "That's a big order to fill you know. Fighting idols demons. We have too many. There is a lot I will never be able to share, or just can't bring myself to. A huge part of my life that I won't ever be able to give you."
Amy nodded solemnly.
"And I still have to go see my family. So, I won't see you after today. That is causing a fear in me that I don't understand. Like you will vanish. I'm not used to this sort of fear."
"And you don't want me to go?" She pressed her lips into a fine line.
"No." He looked away a second, debating his words. "But I don't want you to just wait for me either. That's not fair to you."
"I think it is." She said quickly. He looked shocked. "I want to wait for you Jeon Jungkook! I came to Korea for you. For the chance to meet you. Do you honestly think that I wouldn't want to wait, even forever, if it meant seeing you again?"
"I'm not anything to wait for..." He said too softly, looking down at the white bed covers.
"Yes, you are! You may just be a normal person outside of BTS, but you are absolutely worth it." She jerked his chin up so that he was forced to look at her. She could see the uncertainty in his eyes. The feelings of unworthiness that flashed across his features.
"You do not, hell I may not, grasp the full understanding of what I feel for you. But I know without any shadow of doubt that I love you. I've known for a long time now that I did. I prayed and saved and sacrificed and worked to be here. And you know what? I would do it all again just to be here now, even if I knew I wouldn't see you again.
"Then I will try to make this perfect. I will try to be perfect for you."
She shook her head. "No baby. I just want you to be you. Imperfections and mistakes and faults. I want them all."
Jungkook lay his head on her shoulder. He felt the weight of the world's expectations begin to slip away. He was raw and in a new place. This was how people were supposed to be, but time and again he found this empathy to be lacking. "Are you real?" He whispered into her, his warm breath caressing her soft skin.
