HINATA'S P.O.V.
To be completely honest, I was shocked to see Y/N's name pop up on my phone this morning. Though it saddened me to think that I'd most likely never hear from her again, I did secretly hope she'd call me.
However, not ten seconds into the phone call did I realize she wasn't calling to get back together. Her brother was in serious trouble. And she needed my help.
Well, there'd be no shot in hell that I wouldn't help her so of course I accepted when she asked to come over.
Upon seeing her again, I was a bit awestruck. Not only with how she immediately wrapped me in a hug, but with how beautiful she was. It'd only been a few days, but a part of me must've forgotten how smitten I was with her.
When she came into my house, I shut and locked the door just in case we were in serious trouble. And once she began to explain to me everything that had happened, I'm glad she did.
When she told me that she drunkenly accepted that asshole Adam's proposal, I was taken aback. When she said she was married, all I thought of was my own selfish reasons for being upset. If only I talked to her at the dinner that night. Maybe she and Daichi wouldn't be in so much trouble.
"So that's everything," she shrugs as she looks over at me. We're both sitting side by side awkwardly on my couch. Neither of us had dared to make eye contact until this very moment. "I don't know what to do now."
I know what I'd do if this was a normal situation. I'd say I missed her and wonder if she felt the same. But I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do. I want to help, but how?
Suddenly, Y/N places her forehead on my shoulder. I hear her sob quietly, too, as she wraps her hands around my arm and pulls herself close to me for the second time today.
My whole body freezes in this situation. Do I hold her? Comfort her? Or do I try to turn ourselves around and go after those assholes?
"I'm sorry, Hinata," she whispers without looking up at me. Yet another shot to the heart, hearing her call me by my last name. "I know I fucked things up for us, but please can you-"
Y/N stops short when I wrap my free arm around her back and push her head into my chest, holding her tight this time. "Don't say that," I tell her. "Don't even think that. I'm here for you. Always."
As her crying begins to soften, she looks up at me with glossy eyes.
"Tell me what to do," I say to her. "I want to help, but I don't know how."
"We need to go to Sawamura and Fuyuko's house," you explain. "She'll most likely be there alone. Will you go with me?"
"Of course," I nod.
The two of us then ready ourselves to leave. Just as we do, I send Sawamura a quick text, updating him on our situation. Though I'm not sure if it's what Y/N would want with all things considered, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
In less than fifteen minutes, I'm standing beside Y/N as she knocks on the front door of Fuyuko and Sawamura's house they had bought together.
"Oh!" Fuyuko gasps when she opens the door and finds the two of you on the other side, holding hands no less. "I see the two of you made up. How can I help you guys?"
"I was just wondering if Sawamura was home," you ask as you look past her. "I tried calling him this morning a bunch of times and he didn't answer me. I told Hinata and he thought it'd be a good idea to visit you guys instead."
"Really? But he said he was bringing you home last night, remember? You were so drunk, Y/N. But you don't seem to be very hungover..." she hums as she eyes Y/N up and down.
"Must've been that milk you gave me. Either that or tossing in your toilet did the trick," Y/N smiles back at her.
"I can see that," she hums.
Sensing the tension rising between the two of you, I clear my throat and interrupt their conversation. "Speaking of toilets, do you mind if I use? I'll be quick, I promise."
"Of course," she nods, moving to the side and allowing us in. Then, as I walk off, the two of them head toward the family room.
To get to the bathroom, I first need to walk through the kitchen. However, getting a bit distracted, I instead stop and begin to search the room. A knife could be good to protect Y/N and me.
However, as I rifle through the drawers, I find something even better than a knife. A gun, in fact. I quickly grab onto it and check to see if it's loaded. Three shots left.
Just then, I hear a shattering noise and a loud thump from the next room over. Quickly, I rush to the noise, hoping that Y/N's okay. But to my surprise, it's neither Y/N nor Fuyuko on the ground. Sawamura must've acted on that text I sent him because it's him lying on the ground unconscious instead. Shattered glass is spilled all around the carpet beneath Fuyuko's feet and Sawamura's body.
"God damn it," Fuyuko sighs as she dusts off her hands on the sides of her body. "I told you not to make any moves, you idiot," she then speaks to Sawamura despite him being unable to hear her. While I silently watch the three of them, I reach for my phone in my back pocket and press the red button on my camera.
The second she begins to turn around, my instincts kick in. There's no way I'm letting her hurt Y/N next. So immediately, I lift the gun in my hand and point it at her. "Don't fucking move!" I spit.
"Oh please," she laughs as she looks over at me. "Do you even know how to use that thing?"
"I don't think it's that difficult to figure out," I scoff.
"Either way, I doubt you'll go through with it," she sighs. "What do you have to gain, exactly? Your little crush here is married and her husband isn't going to let her get a divorce without putting up a fight. But, even if it does happen, you'll go to jail for murdering me and you'll never get to be together."
"It's self-defense," Y/N interrupts, stealing my gaze.
"For what?" she hums. "The three of you invaded my house. Look at my back door. The glass is broken. My husband came in crazy-eyed. He went out drinking with his sister last night and he wasn't the same the next morning," she then begins to sniff fakely.
"Save it," Y/N rolls her eyes. "Nobody will buy your crap."
"Fine then," she sighs. "I guess I'll just have to-" she begins before stopping herself. Without being able to react in time, I watch as her elbow gets closer to my face. Then, just as I hear my neck crack and my nose burns as hot as the sun, I feel her steal the gun from my hands.
"Damn, hope I didn't ruin your pretty face, Hinata. Without your looks, what've you got?" she continues to provoke me.
Luckily for me, I'm not alone. Despite the gun now aimed at my head, Y/N has her own plan. She quickly grabs a nearby lamp, pulls it straight out of the socket, and knocks Fuyuko out with one hit.
