We don't see Asteria the day she leaves for Christmas break, I assume Draco has whisked her away before she can say goodbye. Alex and I sit a little bit away from Harry and Ron, who are playing Wizards Chess. I watch as Hermione walks past us, giving us a quick wave before stopping behind Harry.  "Knight to E5" Harry announces, his knight piece moving to the spot he mentioned. Ron grins. "Queen to E5" Ron's queen slides over to Harry's knight and whacks it with her chair. "That's totally barbaric!" Hermione exclaims. "That's wizards chess." Ron retorts. I sigh softly and tune out of their conversation as I look past Alex over to the windows, watching the snow fall.

"I think we've had a bad influence on her." Alex speaks up, breaking me from my thoughts. "Huh..?" I ask, zoning back in. "Ron and Harry are going to try and look someone up in the restricted section. One; Nicholas Flamel.  Name sounds familiar, have you heard of him?" Alex asks, though I hear another voice a moment later. "Atticus? Alex?" Hermione asks, approaching the two of us. "I just wanted to wish you both a happy Christmas." I smile and get out of my seat, giving her a hug. "Happy Christmas, Hermione." I tell her, before she goes to hug Alex, him holding his hand out to shake. Awkwardly, might I add. "H.. h.. happy Christmas, Hermione." Alex stuttered, his face glowing a bright red. "Don't miss us too much." Alex continued, looking away. Hermione giggles, picking up her suitcase and waving again before taking her leave.

I turn my head back to Alex. "Nicholas Flamel is an alchemist who created the Philosopher's Stone." I inform him. "Philosopher's Stone?" He asks in bewilderment. "The Philosopher's Stone is a legendary substance with astonishing powers. It will turn any metal into pure gold and produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal. The only stone currently in existence belongs to Nicholas Flamel, who last year celebrated his 665th birthday"  He stares at me in awe. "So what you're telling me is that there's some immortal alchemist out there, and Harry and Ron are just going to research him for no reason?" I blink in response. "Ohhhhh, I should probably mention the three-headed dog.."  "Oh, okay, that makes sense." Alex spoke sarcastically. I giggle at his reaction. "To be fair, they didn't really explain anything to me, either."  "Well, hearsay is a fat lot of good, isn't it." Alex speaks bitterly, "Did they mention where this three-headed dog was?" I shake my head. "No. But wherever it is, it's guarding the Philosopher Stone." I say with a smirk. "Maybe we've got some investigating to do over the break, then." Alex suggests.

Suddenly, Dumbledore's words dart through my mind. "Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that the 3rd floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death."  I look up at Alex, a look of determination on my face.

"I know where it is."

Can you believe that I am the ONLY Ravenclaw who stayed at school for Christmas? I have the whole common room to myself. Not that I'm complaining. I run downstairs with Bandit on my shoulder, to the Christmas tree, it lined with presents. "Are these all for me?" I whisper to myself as I kneel down, reading the names on each present. They are, except for one, which was for Asteria. I smile to myself. The sender must've known she's not here for the Holidays.

I open up the first one; which was from someone named M. Weasley. It's a sweater, blue with silver accents and a silver A in the middle. I take the card and give it a read.

' Dear Atticus,
We spoke very highly of you three to our mum
and she wanted you to have this.
Asteria and Alex have one too.
Happy Christmas!
Fred and George Weasley. '

I grin and immediately pull the sweater on over my pyjamas before promptly moving onto the next gift, Bandit crawling onto my head. 'I wonder what this could be." I say with a smile as I open up a broom shaped gift. A Nimbus 2000 sits on my lap, with a card attached. All that it says, is: To Atticus; Love The Diggory's My heart swells with happiness. Cedric is the Hufflepuff Seeker, and I'm sure they have just as high hopes for me. The next gifts were a mixture of sweets and games, along with some Bertie Botts' every flavour beans and some chocolate frogs. The next is a gift for both myself and Bandit, from Cedric. I smile and open it up. It's a hat, a warm woolly hat, in my house colours, and a smaller one for Bandit's tiny head. Bandit scampers down my head to my shoulder and then onto the broomstick in my lap. I promptly place the hat on his head, before placing the matching one on mine. "Adorable." I giggle as Bandit scurries around in glee. The next gift is a box in Gryffindor colours, at first I think that maybe it's misplaced, but then I take a look at the tag. "To: Atticus; Love, Hermione." I grin as I open it up. It was a black rope bracelet, with an open book charm, the card it wrapped around saying 'Just one more chapter.' I can tell this is from a Muggle store, but that just makes it even better. No only are we both the smartest kids in school, but we're both Muggle-born, making our bond so much closer. There's a fancy blue quill, that produces sparkly black ink and never runs out, from Asteria and an empty leather-bound book wrapped in Gryffindor colours from Alex. It's got a card that says, "I expect great things to be documented in this. You're the next Albus Dumbledore." I smile, holding the book and quill close to my chest. I just know I've found life-long friends here.

And then, one last present. A small box. There's no name. The card on it says; "Use it well." I open up the box and pull out a chain, with an hourglass attached to the bottom of it. The box has a list of instructions written on the back. "To use this Time Turner, all the wearer has to do is turn the embedded hourglass once for each hour they want to go back, and they'll be transported back to that time" I read out quietly. I place the chain around my neck and hide the necklace under my clothes. This is something I'm going to want to keep a secret. From everyone.
