Oliver Wood blows the whistle, Asteria and Oliver begin their beater and chaser switcheroo and Alex defends, all the while I keep my eyes and ears out for the snitch. I watch as the two try to score, while Alex blocks the goals. My head snaps towards the others as I hear the snitch zoom past, immediately I begin chasing after it, my eyes never leaving the golden ball. Wood was right, the snitch is a slippery little bugger. I follow it around the stands, past the others and even through the goal hoops. I reach my hand out to catch it, but it was always just a little too far ahead. Then, the snitch changes its course, and begins leading me away from the pitch, away from the others and away from Hogwarts. I don't care where this snitch is taking me, I'm determined to catch it! That is.. until it takes me into the depths of the Forbidden Forest. It drops low to the ground, now this is my chance to grab it. I slowly stand on the broom, keeping my balance, reaching my arm out, though it continues to slip through my fingers. I start to get fed up with this snitch, and take a leap of faith, literally. I jump from the broom, catching the golden ball in my hands before landing in a pile of dirty, cold and wet leaves with a small barrel roll. But at least I've caught the snitch! I did the thing!!
I brush some leaves off of myself as I grasp the snitch in one hand, before searching for where my broom had gone. I grunt a little, pulling out my wand and casting Lumos, for some light. What I find isn't my broom, but the corpse of a majestic creature; a unicorn. I gasp and jump back a little at the unexpected scene. "How come you came all the way out here?" Alex asks from behind me, making me jump. "You know we can't be here.." "I was just following the snitch.. I..-" I stammer out, stepping aside to show him my findings. "A unicorn?!" Alex shrieks. "What's this about a unicorn?" Asteria asks, as she pulls up her broom next to Alex's. "I think I'm gonna be sick.." Alex mumbles. "We need to tell someone about this..- let's find Hagrid.' I suggest. "Whatever gets us out of here the quickest.. Whatever did this, it didn't do it for a good reason." I nod, still trying to find my darn broom. "Accio Nimbus 2000." I summon with my wand, the broom returning to me a moment later. I keep the snitch in one hand before leading the others towards Hagrid's hut on our brooms.
"Hagrid!" I call out, bursting through his front door, almost giving the poor man a heart attack. "Blimey, Atticus! You could knock..!" Hagrid says, clutching his chest as he sits down in his chair. "Sorry, Hagrid.. But this is important.." Hagrid looks down at the three of us, at the serious looks on our faces. "Shall I put on a po' o' tea?" "There's no time for tea, Hagrid!" Asteria exclaims. "We found a dead unicorn in the Forbidden Forest.." I explain. Hagrid's eyes widen behind his bushy brows. "What were the three of you doin' in there?" Hagrid bellows. "I was chasing after this.." I tell him, showing him the snitch. I then begin to explain what happened as fast as I can. "AndThenWeCameHereToTalkToYouAndWoodIsStillWaitingForUs-" I say, finally taking a deep breath, almost passing out. I take a seat as Asteria finishes explaining. "We thought you'd be the best person to tell about the unicorn." Hagrid nods, patting me on the head softly. "Ye three run along to Wood, now. Best not let him worry. Thank ye for comin' to me." Alex and Asteria help me out of the giant chair before the three of us take off back to the Quidditch pitch, and back to Oliver Wood.
We fly back to the Quidditch pitch, Wood flying up to meet us. "What happened?" He asks, seeing the uneasy look on Alex's face. "I, uh.. I fell off my broom." Alex lied. "I'm okay, though, really. Sorry we took so long." Wood shakes his head. "That can be a bugger.. At least you're still in one piece, though." Wood spoke, his smile returning. "Good news, though!" I announce, handing him the golden ball. "I caught the snitch!" I grin proudly. "First try, even, Mr. Grey! You'll make a fine seeker." Oliver says, warmly, patting me on the back. "Shall we go have something to eat? You three look like you're exhausted." Wood says with a smile. "Yes, please, I'm starving!" I reply, gripping my stomach. "Time for a nice birthday dinner." Alex says quietly, ruffling my curly hair before transforming into his dog form. I giggle softly as the three of us take off towards the Great Hall, Oliver staying behind to pack up the Quidditch balls. "I'll see you there shortly!" He calls out to us.
I hear Alex growl as a Slytherin our age with a short black bob stood ahead of us, crossing her arms. "Keep that mutt of yours quiet." She utters cruelly before looking at Asteria. "And the pup, too." She finished with a grin. I narrow my brows at her. "And what are you supposed to be?" I ask, having an instant distaste for this girl. "Never mind, Pugface." Asteria tells us, ignoring the girl. "She just tries to bring others down because she has no self-esteem. Not even Draco likes her." This 'Pugface' grew angry. "And why would you think that you had permission to speak to me, you foul little Mud blood?" She spits at me. Alex barks, pouncing on her, knocking her to the ground as he transforms back, drawing his wand. "Watch your mouth" He warned. "Alex, stop. She's not worth it." I say softly, placing my hand on his shoulder. "Tch- You're probably right." Alex says with a sigh as I help him back onto his feet. "Parkinson." He barks, now reaching a hand out for her. "Leave." He demands. "If you don't, you'll get what's coming to you." Asteria sneers back at the girl, who whimpers as she runs to the Slytherin table. "I didn't really want to be called a Mud blood on my birthday, of all days." I say, dejected. "I'm sorry, Atticus. She'll pay for that." Asteria spoke, quite obviously beside herself. "Don't worry about it." I sigh, quietly walking into The Great Hall.
"For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellooooooooooow. Which nobody can deny!" The Weasley brothers all sing in unison as they stand up to pat me on the shoulder and ruffle my hair, Hermione, Cedric, Harry, Cho Chang and the Patil twins join in part way through the song, with Oliver joining in near the end. "Looks like you have a lot more friends than you might have thought." Alex teased, patting me on the back. I almost start to cry, I feel so loved at this moment. "C'mon, let's dig in!" Alex encourages as my stomach loudly grumbles. I giggle as I take a seat with all the people I love the most. There were a few hiccups in the road, but overall this was turning out to be the best birthday ever.
