Lockhart clears his throat. "Ahem.. alright. Well, thank you, Malfoy, Potter. You may leave.. uh.." The teacher was too stunned to speak. "Who'd like to go next?" He finally asks after a moment of silence and my hand shoots up. I look over to Alex, whose hand had also immediately gone up. The two of us grin as Lockhart calls our names. "Grey, McGonagall, up you come." The grin stays on my face as I enter the stage from the side Asteria had been on, Alex getting up on Harry's side. The two of us meet in the middle, wands in our faces. "No holds barred, right, buddy?" He asks. I lower my wand and we bow. "May the best man win." I reply with a wink before turning around, taking my place near the end of the platform.
"Three. Two. One."
Alex spins on his heel, immediately casting a spell towards me. "Diffindo!" He calls, a blade of air blasting at me, I quickly react. "Protego!" A purple shield bubble appears around me just at the right moment. He really just used Diffindo on me?! "Dude, what the Hell!?" I call to him, obviously offended that he had used such a spell. "I knew you could block it! Give me some credit!" He calls back before flicking another spell my way. "Rictusempra!" "Protego." I cast again, the bubble becoming my new best friend. "Expelliarmus!" I announce, shooting my own blast at him now. "Protego!" He responds, the barrier becoming his friend, now. That little minx really just learned that spell from me right now, he has a keen eye, that one. I'm getting annoyed now, seems like he is too. "Alright, enough fun and games, Atti. Let's finish this one." He says smugly. And finish this I will, or so I thought.
We raise our wands, both casting spells at one another. I cast "Locomotor Wibbly" at the exact same time as he casts "Expulso." My soft purple spell hits him as his bright blue blast impacts me. His spell sends me flying to the back of the room, I painfully hit the back wall. My spell, on the other hand, left him completely defenceless, he lay on his back, his legs jellified. Yep, I just used the jelly legs jinx.
"What a show! What, a, show!" Lockhart exclaims, applauding along with the rest of the students. I feel a set of soft hands grab me by the arm and help me up, I look up to see my helper, none other than Luna Lovegood. "That was wicked, Atticus. Well done." She praises as I manage to stand, body aching. I limp my way back onto the stage, overhearing Snape's dull voice. "-we need someone to volunteer to escort young McGonagall to the hospital wing until he regains the use of his legs." "I can fix that.." I speak, grasping my wand tightly. I wiggle my wand around, uttering "Unjellify." The boy's legs regaining feeling. Snape looks at me, puzzled, he was clearly aware that no counter curse had existed up until now. I limp my way over to Alex before holding a hand out for him. He stands, then takes my arm, draping it over his shoulder as he helps me off the stage. I can hear Lockhart continue to applaud us. "Wonderful sportsmanship. Reminds me of my youth. For full details, see my published works." He promotes himself once again. As pained as I am, I still manage to roll my damn eyes at his cocky arrogance.
"Good match, mate." Alex says with a smile as he begins walking me towards the infirmary. "Next time we'll make sure one of us wins, eh?" "Just don't break my ribs next time.." I chuckle dryly, coughing a little from being winded. He laughs in response. "Technically, it was the wall that broke your ribs, not me." He spoke pedantically.
"Screw your technicalities, that still hurt!"
