My brain has been working overtime. I've been reading one of the books Alex gave me for my birthday, the one about Occlumency. And it's given me ideas. I switch between the Guide to Advanced Occlumency and Mystifying Charms and Curses books, writing down my notes in my journal with the quill in which I had gotten for Christmas. I've been doing extra classes with Flitwick on advanced Charms. Perhaps I can talk to him about this idea.
I make my way to Flitwick's office, clutching the books and quill against my chest. I'm nervous about how he's going to react about this, considering this is way past what someone my year should even think about. But I have to know. I have to try.
"Mr. Grey!" Flitwick calls to me as I enter the office. "I wasn't expecting you this afternoon. What can I do you for?" His voice always makes me smile. "I'm sorry for bothering you, professor. I was in the library the other night, and I read something rather odd about a bit of rare magic, and I thought, perhaps, you could illuminate me. It's called, as I understand it.. Legilimency." Flitwick looks up at me, a shocked look on his face. "Why ever would you want to learn about that at your age, Atticus?" He asks, leaning forward on his desk. "Well, you see.. I feel my intelligence is too advanced for first year magic, as you very well know. So I took it upon myself to learn more. Though, I figured I might need some help." I explain. "Well, while I may be familiar with the subject, I am by no means an expert." Professor Flitwick says, seeming to be lost in thought. "Perhaps I could organise your next lesson to be with an old friend of mine. One particularly skilled in all facets of the magical world. Maybe you've heard of him. His name is Albus Dumbledore." Flitwick speaks with a grin, to which I smile in return. "You really think Dumbledore will help me?" I ask, hope in my eyes.. "If you truly are willing to put in the effort to learn such an advanced technique whilst still so young, I'm sure he would oblige. But, convincing him of your convictions, is something that you will have to do on your own." "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I say ecstatically before taking my leave.

It's time. My Legilimency class with Dumbledore. "Young Master Grey, I hear you have queries for me to do with some.... rather rare magic." "Yes, sir. Legilimency, sir." I say with a nod. "You certainly are much more advanced than your peers, judging by the fact that you are even aware of its existence" Dumbledore spoke calmly. "What makes you want to learn the art of becoming a Legilimens?" "Well, sir. I'm sure you're aware of my friendship with one, Asteria Malfoy?" I ask, to which he nods. "Well, her father, Mr. Malfoy isn't too fond of her being friends with myself and Alexander McGonagall, because of our blood status. So I was hoping to find a way the three of us could communicate via Legilimency.." I explain, watching as Dumbledore processes the information. "I see. What makes you believe Legilimency is the way forward? It is a dangerous art, if used improperly. There are very few able to master the art of Legilimency." He asks, a calm smile on his face. "I believe that I'm more than capable of learning how to do it. Especially at my age, when you can quite easily mould and compartmentalise thoughts. There's also specific passages in a book that I read that details the ability to cast Legilimens on an object, like what Godrick Gryffindor did on the Sorting Hat." Dumbledore furrows his brow, concentrating hard. "Would you believe, when you've lived as long as I, sometimes you can cast a spell as simply as just furrowing a brow?" I pick up on what he means, immediately. He has just used Legilimency on me. It's a strange sensation, having someone in your head that isn't supposed to be there. Though I understand why he's doing it. "I see your intentions are pure. There are no guarantees, but I will do my utmost to help you. But be careful, allowing one promised to the dark lord to enter the inner reaches of your mind could prove costly." I nod. "I understand, sir. Thank you very much."
