Polished shiny floors
Hard golden wood
Looming basketball hoops
Bleachers tucked in for sleep
Bright lights above
Mats, climbing ropes and balls

Kids run around
Noise bounces off the walls
Gym teachers shout louder
Everyone looks when it's my turn
I don't want them to watch
And tease me when I do it wrong

It's quiet now
The halls are empty
Students went home
Gym teachers left too
But classroom teachers' kids wait
For moms to finish the day's work

If the rope is down
We swing from the stage
Instead of trying to climb
All the way up to the top
Or ride the scooters
Hop on the balance beam

Mom has a basketball
For us to take to the gym
We can play HORSE if we want
Teachers' kids having fun
After school in the gym
No one cares if I do it wrong
