18. The Escape

I need to escape.

I start to focus, as much as I can. If I can just get through the pain then I can get out.

My head starts ringing as I'm trying to enter the void. I have to push through. I think of the pathfinder Keefe gave me.

"Please." I whisper as a tear rolls down my face from the ringing.

I feel it fall infront of me as I open my eyes. I grab it and lift it up to the only light in the room.

My body starts to dissolve. My head is ringing but I have to get out.

I appear in Keefe's room.
"B?" Keefe asks. I feel my knees get weak.

Keefe catches me before I hit the floor. I stand up now that the ringing stopped. I hug Keefe tightly. I'm okay.

Keefe pulls away to look at me.
"Are you okay?" He asks. I look down and realize how ripped and cut my shirt is.
"I am now." I say.
"What's this?" He asks looking at the metal.
"It's to stop me from doing just about anything. I can't take it off."
"Let me see." He says. He starts trying to slide it off and surprisingly it comes off.

My headache instantly reduces.
"Woah." Keefe says starting to fan the air.
"Sorry." I mutter. He smiles at me.

"Do you want to change and shower?" He asks. I nod. He walks over to his drawer and hands me clothes. "I'll wait here." He says. I nod.

I walk into the bathroom and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My face has cuts, bruises, and dried blood.

I get in the shower and let the hot water rinse everything away. I can still feel Albert gripping my wrist as he presses his knife to my neck.

I get out and change into his warm human clothes.

I walk out and he hugs me again.
"Im so sorry." He says.
"It's not your fault." I say pulling away.
"What did they do to you?" He asks looking at me carefully.
"I'd much rather not talk about that right now." I says He nods.

"You should see Elwin." He says. I shake my head.
"Once they realize I'm gone, they'll go searching. They'll search there. They'll probably search here so we have to go."
"How long do you think we have?" He asks.
"They're probably already looking."
"I know a place." He says.

Keefe grabs a pathfinder and takes my hand.

We lightleap to a field.

"No one knows about this place." Keefe says sitting down.
"Woah." I mutter looking at how isolated it is. It's beautiful.
"I used to come here a lot." He says. I sit next to him.

"I missed you." I say.
"I'm just glad you're okay." He says smiling.

He wraps his arms around me as I lean close to him.
"Thank you." He whispers.
"I promised I wouldn't let them hurt you."
"But they hurt you."
"All to keep you safe." I whisper leaning closer to him.

I surprisingly fall asleep only to dream of being attacked.

We wake up and lightleap to the Blackswan.

They all start asking me questions about what happened and who was there.

Elwin forces me to get a checkup. He gives me some elixirs for the cuts and sends me off.

I lightleap home.

Maddy runs to me and hugs me.
"I was scared." She whispers.
"I'm okay." I say.

Alice hugs me and looks at me carefully.
"Sorry, I kinda broke our saying where I'll be and when I'll be back rule." I say. Gael smiles softly.
"We're just glad you're okay, kiddo." He says.

"Do you want anything?" Alice asks.
"No, I kinda just wanna relax a bit."
"That's fine." She says. I smile and head upstairs.

Kalo's sitting on my bed.
"Hi." I say.
"No." He says annoyed.
"What?" I ask sitting on the chair.
"You're an idiot! You could've died. I couldn't save you while you were kidnapped. No one knew where you were." He says.
"Seems like you missed me." I say smiling. He glares at me.

"I just needed to. I didn't have a choice." I say.
"Yes you did. You could've fought them."
"They had Keefe. It was either he'd be forced to do something that would destroy him, or I'd just get hurt."
"They could've killed you."
"They can't kill me. They can try, but they can't." I laugh. He shakes his head and laughs with me.

"I'm going to my room now. Don't do anything stupid."
"No promises." I smile.

He rolls his eyes as he walks out muttering words under his breathe.

I lean my head back on the chair.

He's right, I could've died. But I'm alive. I have to make a mark. I have to defeat them, whatever it takes.

I notice a light purple card on my nightstand. I don't recognize it.

I get up and grab it.

"Blair."

I open it.

"Dearest Blair,
I understand if you hate me and never want to meet me, but I need you to hear me out. Meeting Zeus was both a blessing and a curse. It changed everything, I had to leave you, and had to lie to everyone I knew. I've made many mistakes, leaving you is one of them.

I needed the time to let you get strong and grow before I came back into your life. I'm sorry. I hope you're willing to meet with me, though.

If you are use the pathfinder to meet with me tomorrow at 7.
