Prologue

I skipped happily along the path and stopped right in front of the large double doors to the Kuran household, softly knocking on the door 3 times then awaiting the response. After a few seconds the door opened and there stood my best friend, Kaname, The only son and the eldest child of the Kuran family. Behind him stood his curious younger sibling, Kimi. She was shy but sweet and really kind. "Ayame!" Kaname exclaimed excitedly. "I'm glad you decided to come,"

I nodded and exchanged a smile in response. "Of course I would come," Just as I said that, Kimi stepped forward and stood beside her brother.

"Ayame! Ayame! We're going to visit somewhere today!"

I stared curiously at Kimi. "Where?"

She giggled and held Kaname's hand. "Mother said we're visiting the Aido household! They're aristocrats."

I gave a soft smile in return as I didn't know how else to respond. I glanced at Kaname who's expression had changed from happy to concerned. "Ayame, I apologise," he stepped to the side, dragging his sister with him. "You must be cold standing out there. Please, come in."

I nodded and stepped inside the mansion. I heard Kaname close the door behind me and walk to stand beside me. "Thank you, Kaname." We exchanged smiles before walking down the long hallway together.
