Ayame's POV

I cried and whimpered into my knees, leaning against the tree. I knew I shouldn't be crying but I couldn't help it, I felt sad for some reason, sad enough for the tears to come pouring out of my system. "Hey,"

I looked up at the source of the voice, it was Zero, the boy who was taken in by Kaien Cross. "Oh, hi..."

I rested my face against my knees and sniffed. "You need to go back to class."

Why couldn't he just leave me alone right now? "I need fresh air..."

"Go back right now."

Anger began to build up. "No..."

"What are you? Stupid? Go before any day class students who are lurking find you."

"Let me just calm down, please."

Zero grunted and stayed where he was, it confused me. "Quit staring, it's weird."

It was a habit, to observe people but then let it appear to be staring at them. "Oh, sorry. Just observing."

"Observing?"

"Observing."

He furrowed his eyebrows, clearly confused. "Whatever."

"Zero!" A familiar voice called from not so far away.

"Oh, Ayame-sama, are you okay?" It was Yuki.

"That was a dumb question, of course she's not okay."

"Shut up, Zero! I was just trying to show my concern!"

"You didn't show it well..." Zero mumbled.

I stood up and began to walk back to class, behind me I could hear the two still arguing and I sighed.

I bumped into someone along the way, it was Kaname. "Ayame, I was looking for you."

"Sorry Kaname...for running away like that."

He smiled kindly. "It wasn't your fault, Aya."

I shook my head. "I'm sure he didn't know our past, Kaname. He didn't mean it, I just wanted some fresh air, that's all."

He nodded. "We must get back to class now, Aya"

I began walking with him but someone called from behind, it was Yuki. "Kaname!"

The girl rushed over. "Are you alright? Did you bump into any day class girls?"

Kaname shook his head. "Don't worry Yuki, everything is fine. Sorry, but we must get back to class."

She smiled and nodded. "Oh yes! Sorry Kaname! Sorry Ayame! Bye then!" She ran off in the direction she approached us from, disappearing into the darkness.

After class I was the last to leave, I didn't want to be near anyone. Just as I thought I was well away from my classmates I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder, my eyes widened as I was quite startled. "I'm sorry, Ayame..." I instantly recognized the whispering voice, Hanabusa.

I felt my heart begin to race. "It's fine."

I turned to face him and saw him looking right at me, his expression was unreadable. "I..."

He trailed off and looked at the ground. I was curious on what he was going to say but he just kept staring at the floor. After a few moments he took his hand off my shoulder and walked out of the class leaving me confused and finally alone in classroom.
