"Here, you must be hungry." Gyuri passed Heeseung a packet of coffee flavoured biscuits.
"Damn, I haven't had these in years." Heeseung smiled nostalgically
Gyuri and Heeseung opened their packets and were immedietly transported back in time once they smelt the biscuits.
Heeseung sat at his desk, staring at the chalk board Infront of him. No thoughts, head empty. The packet of coffee biscuits lay untouched on his desk. He was about to open it, since he hadn't eaten since the day before and this was the only thing he could find.
The usual duo walked in and surrounded Heeseung, accompanied by Gyuri.
"Why is he staring at the board like that? He's so dumb, it's not like he's gonna learn anything." The boy laughed, messing up Heeseungs hair.
"He's probably trying to learn now that he realised he could never debut as a Hybe idol. Seriously, how did he even get accepted in the first place?" The girl slammed her hands on his desk, starling the boy.
Heeseung knew better than to say anything, so he hung his head down and took whatever abuses they hurled at him.
"Oh? Gyuri, isn't that your favourite snack? Go on, I bet Heeseungs not even that hungry."
Heeseung looked at Gyuri from the corner of his eyes, praying that the girl would decline.
Gyuri made eye contact with him and looked away immedietly.
"No thanks, I wouldn't want to accept anything that he's been in contact with."
Relieved, the boy held back a smile.
He was greatful that Gyuri never did anything bad to him, but he was confused.
Why did such a nice girl like her hand out with these dimwits?
Why hadn't Gyuri turned on him already and bullied him like the others do?
"These were your favourite back in highschool, right?" Gyuri cautiously brought up the topic of their past.
Heeseung chuckled. "Even now, they're the very best."
He turned to the girl next to him and sighed.
"Why did you hang out with those idiots in the first place?"Gyuri redirected her attention back to her biscuits and bit one harshly. "You may not believe me, but I seriously didn't have a choice."
Heeseung nod his head. "Don't worry, I do. They we're seriously the worst, I kind of figured out that you didn't agree with their actions. I mean, you never did anything mean, you just hung around them."
Gyuri tightened her fists under the table and looked at Heeseung. "I don't get it. You remember the past well, so why are you being so nice to me?"
Heeseung pondered for a moment before starting to talk again. "You said it yourself, you didn't want to hang out with them. I believe we were wronged in the past, it's something we have in common."
"So then why are you here now? Why aren't you yelling at me and being angry at me?" Gyuri asked, now more confused than ever
Heeseung looked at the girl. "Let's be friends. I want to tell everyone that I had atleast one friend in highschool that I still keep in touch with."
Gyuri scrunched up her face in confusion. Since when were they friends in highschool to begin with?
"You always looked out for me in your own ways, and I'm thankful." Heeseung said, finishing off his coffee favoured snack.
Gyuri sat, confused. The rain outside had slowed down, almost stopped.
Heeseung looked at his phone. "Do you know who I am?"
"Huh? what? Make it make sense"
"Sorry, that came out weird. You know my job now, right?"
Gyuri thought. What on earth was he asking her? It didn't make sense.
"Oh!" A lightbulb went off in her head. "You mean how you're an idol?"
Heeseung nod his head and smiled calmly.
"Is it ok if we keep this meeting a secret for now?"
Gyuri nod her head. "I can do that Lee. I better get going now, keep in touch?"
Heeseung nod his head once again. "I'll swing by the store soon, for now, here's my number."
Gyuri shook her head. "Sorry, I don't have any credit. You don't have Instagram?"
Heeseung chuckled sheepishly and rubbed his nape. "I do actually...I think you blocked me."
What was he on about?
Another light bulb went off in her head.
"You're the user person? Nahh, that's crazy. You should have told me." Gyuri laughed and pulled out her phone, ready to unblock the boy.
"Great, we can talk on there. I'll see you later, ok?" Heeseung said, sighting the black van that had just pulled up outside the store. "That's my ride."
Gyuri went home that night, feeling giddier than she had felt in a while.
"What's gotten you so happy?" Her older brother, Soobin asked.
"I just met a friend from school after so long." Gyuri smiled. "Wait, why are you home? Shouldn't you be in America?" The girl had forgotten about her brothers presence while thinking about Heeseung.
Soobin had been studying abroad for the past month or so in an exchange program. He was expected back home until a month later.
Gyuri ran up to her big brother and gave him a big fat hug. "I missed you!" she smiled.
Soobin hugged her back. "Don't get too comfortable, I'll be going back in a couple of weeks."
Gyuri hit her old brother. "Don't ruin the moment."
Soobin laughed and then pulled. Away. "When you said 'friend from school,' did you buy any chance mean that boy you had a big fat crush on? Heeseu-"
Gyuri slapped her older brothers shoulder again, moaning in annoyance. "I said don't ruin the moment."
