Gyuri did not wake up that day.
Instead, she was hauled out of bed and threatened by Soobin
"If you don't get up now, we'll take you back to the orphanage." Soobin told the girl.
Immedietly, Gyuris mood was lifted.
Gyuri opened her eyes and peeked at her brother, who was smiling down at her.
The girl faked sadness. "You know I don't like it when you joke about my past." She sniffled a little.
Soobin looked concerned at once. "Wait! Don't cry. I'm sorry, I should have known not to cross the line."
Gyuri took her chance and jumped up, punching her brothers shoulder and startling him in the process. "HA! that's what you get for dragging me out of bed loser."
Soobin was relieved, the last thing he has wanted to do was upset his little sister. He rolled his eyes and half apologised.
"Don't you have class in an hour? Why hasn't your alarm gone off yet?"
Gyuri became grumpy again and covered her whole body with the blanket, flipping into the floor. "I turned it off on purpose."
Soobin chuckled knowingly. "So you have a presentation today?"
It was more than known to the Choi family that the youngest child despised presentations.
Skipping school, accidentally sleeping in and 'getting sick' we're all things that would happen whenever Gyuri had to complete one.
Soobin nod his head. "That's why Heeseung dropped by this morning. There were flowers too." He said, leaving Gyuris room and making his way downstairs.
Gyuri caught a little bit of what her older brother said and ran after him
"Wait what? Heeseung was here?"
True to his words, Gyuri really did find a trace of Heeseung downstairs. A large bundle of flowers were resting on the table. At a closer inspection, Gyuri found out that they were actually bath bombs, decorated to look like flowers.
"This is crazy. Heeseung, I love you." She said as she picked up the bunch, hugged them and twirled around.
Little did she know, Soobin was recording her secretly.
-
The girl made it to class just in time, courtesy of her brother who insisted that he drop her off using the family car, just so that she wouldn't have the chance to run away.
Gyuri slowly made her way to class, dreading what she knew she had to do.
The girl made her way to her seat in the front row and sat down right as the teacher walked in.
Without a word, the professor connected their laptop to the large screen which now displayed a website.
"Tadaaa! Random name generator will determine the order in which we present today. Good luck guys!" The professor showed everyone her thumbs up.
Students around the whole room groaned annoyedly. Random name generator - the arch nemesis of every student known to mankind was present in the very room.
Gyuri lowered herself in her seat as she watched the wheel on the board spin and chose it's first victim. This was her very worst nightmare.
-
She had made it this far. There was now 9 minutes left until class was over, Gyuri was positive that she had survived for now. Until-
"Right! We can fit it one more for today." The professor announced, making Gyuri break out into a nervous sweat.
The pinwheel spun. And spun. And slowed down. Even slower. And landed. On. Gyuris. Name.
Gosh
"Gyuri! You're up." The professor exclaimed excitedly.
The girl nervously gathered her laptop and palm cards and took it to the front of the room, passing by kind classmates that whispered words of encouragement to her.
Gyuri connected her laptop to the large screen.
Everyone's eyes were on her.
"Goodnorning everyone" she started by greeting the room. No one replied. Gosh this was awkward
Almost immedietly, her mind went blank.
Gyuri you dumbass, you memoried this. What's wrong with you? Just speak.
Her false sense of confidence was failing her each second.
This is not the time to panic. Focus Gyuri. You can do this.
Suddenly, she was reminded to Heeseungs words.
"You'll do great, don't overthink it."
Right, she was just overthinking it.
Gyuri collected herself and claimed her nerves down.
"I am Choi Gyuri, and I have practiced this stupid presentation a thousand times over. Now I am going to get this over and done with." She told herself
This time, when Gyuri spoke, she spoke with an air of confidence and self trust.
That's right, this was too easy.
Her words flowed out of her mouth smoothly, she made just the right amount of eye contact while delivering the information on time and keeping the audience intrigued.
"Thankyou for listening." She smiles up at her class, who all clapped enthusiastically, once she was done
"Thankyou for that Gyuri, class is dismissed."
Everyone scrambled out of their seats and exited the room in a hurry, leaving all their anxiety and worries from the presentation in the past.
"Dear, I'm running late to a meeting since the presentations went into the lunch break, would you mind locking up the room behind you?" The teacher asked, already ready to go
Gyuri nod her head and watched the teacher leave the room before she continued to pack up her own things.
She turned around, only to find a student still sitting at the back of the room.
Suddenly, he started clapping as he got up, making his was down the stairs and towards the girl
"Is he...mocking me?" Gyuri thought
"You did so well, I'm so proud of you." The boy spoke.
"Hee...Heeseung?" Gyuri spoke cautiously.
Heeseung took off his mask and waved his hand. "Hi!"
Gyuri broke out into a bigger smile. "I was amazing, wasn't I?" Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
Heeseung laughed and shook his head. "I swung by your house this morning to let you know, but you were still asleep. Do you know how scary it was to explain what I was doing to Soobin?"
Gyuri shook her head
"Then, I wanted to sit next to you in class, but the seats around you were already taken. Our Gyuri is so popular" he teased, poking the girls arm.
Gyuri was so greatful the Heeseung had been there to support her, despite the fact that she didn't know it at the time.
"Thankyou for coming. Seriously."
Heeseung grabbed Gyuris bag and slung it across his back. "Let's go eat and celebrate, it'll be on me."
They walked out of the lecture room, arm in arm.
