Gyuri put her phone away, half expecting Heeseung to not show up.
Her final exams were coming up, so she had decided to go on full on grind mode, sleeping and eating were not a luxury she could indulge in right now.
Some annoying professor had decided that each student were to present a 10 minute long multimodal presentation to the class about the effects of substance abuse, how to avoid it and how to get help.
And they had decided that the presentations would be next week, so students had a very small time frame in which they could come up with what they needed.
The thing was, Gyuri wanted to get a good mark, ofcourse. So she had taken it upon herself to create the best PowerPoint out there, while also memorising the excrutitaing long script AND choosing to study non stop for the exam.
A moment later, an announcement was heard from the speaker.
"we're looking for Choi Gyuri, you have a visitor. Please come to the main desk."
Everyone around her groaned at the unnecessary and distruptive announcement. Gyuri had never been this embarassed before.
As inconspicuously as possible, the girl got up and brisk walked to the first floor of the library, running to the main desk.
Heeseung was casually chatting with the old man who was volunteering at the moment about a new book that had been released.
Apparently, Lee felt comfortable enough to be seen at Gyuris university without his mask on.
When Heeseung caught sight of his friend, he smiled and turned to the man. "That's her right there. It was nice talking to you sir, thankyou for your help."
Gyuri took Heeseung by his hand and dragged him up the stairs and to the place she was studying at before.
"Why didn't you just message me? I would have come out and found you myself."
Heeseung looked somewhat apologetic. "Sorry, I wanted to be dramatic. But I'm here now, aren't I?" He opened his arms wide.
"Whatever." Gyuri scoffed. "Try to be quiet, I'll finish in an hour and then we can go."
"Wait, I'll have to wait for you?" Heeseung questioned as he stole a chair from a nearby table.
"Duh. You came even when I told you that now might not be a good time. Reap the consequences of your actions." The girl teasingly sassed at the boy.
-
Gyuri was getting annoyed. The person sitting diagonally from her kept coughing and sneezing. Bro, if you're sick, just go home.
Someone had decided to bring their baby cousins to the library in the peak of exam season. Not a good idea, they were cancelled.
Heeseung had left to go to the bathroom a little while earlier, promising to come back soon.
Gyuri needed to get out of the library asap, everything was getting too much for her, it was too loud and she couldn't study.
She felt the knot in her throat grow tighter and tighter as she fought hard to keep the tears from falling. The feeling of frustration in her chest didn't help either.
Her breaths became shorter and shorter, vision darkening with spots.
But she couldn't leave just yet, Heeseung didn't know his way around the library, or the campus. If she left him, he would get lost easily.
Just on time, the boy returned to Gyuri, immedietly reaslising that something was wrong.
"Hey, let's get out of here, ok?" He whispered in a soft voice, rubbing soothing circles on the girls back as he helped her back up all her things.
They left the library as quick as possible.
Gyuri was full on sobbing at this point. She didn't know what was wrong with her. Why was she even crying? She had been completely fine this morning.
Heeseung directed her towards a secluded seating area. A groul of friends there were packing up their things and preparing to leave, Heeseungs and Gyuri would be free soon enough.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what happened." Gyuri said as she regained a normal breathing pattern
"Don't apologise, take your time."
Gyuri sat there, drawing in longs breaths of air and rubbing her eyes, making all the tears go away.
"Maybe I put too much pressure on myself or something. Maybe that's why."
Heeseung looked at the girl and handed her a packet of coffee flavoured biscuits.
"Wanna talk about it?"
Gyuri smiled and unloaded all her thoughts onto the boy. He listened to the girl, not interrupting her at all.
When she was done, the girl felt lighter and happier. Gyuri was suddenly reminded of the dream she had seen the night prior.
"Let's tell eachother everything."
Maybe this was the purpose of the dream. To let Gyuri know that she couldn't carry all of her worry by herself, and that she needed to learn on someone every once in a while.
"So." Heeseung stared once he was sure the girl was absolutely done. "Are you happy with me just listening to you, or do you want some advice?"
Gyuri offered Heeseung the packet of biscuits. After all, it was his favourite too.
"I just needed someone to listen. Thankyou."
Heeseung smiled and accepted the a biscuit. He was about to say something when the two were interrupted.
Oh, how wonderful it was to have friends.
"Sorry to intrude, but are you by any chance, Lee Heeseung?" A girl from the group earlier asked. "Is this your girlfriend Heeseung?"
Heeseung and Gyuri hadn't realised that they hadn't left.
The boy put on a mask in a flash and shook his head. "No, I'm not Heeseung. I've heard that we look alike though."
Gyuri chose to step in at that moment. "This is my brother actually."
The girl however was still persistent. "Are you sure? Because you look an awful lot like him. And you guys look pretty close"
Why couldn't this annoying girl just leave them alone?
"I already told you, he's my brother. Are you promoting incest right now?" Gyuri yelled at the girl, startling Heeseung.
Embarassed, the girl shook her head and left with her friends.
Heeseung and Gyuri took one look at eachother and burst out into laughter.
