"Okay, take a break now

"Okay, take a break now."

Taehyun said to Y/n, frustrating her slightly.

"But it's only been ten minutes."

The cut in her waist hadn't even begun to blossom with another wound yet. She had begun to realise that the cut would never heal at these conditions and when it eventually did, it would leave a horrible scar.

Taehyun only shrugged and handed her a water bottle.

"Don't forget to stay hydrated."

Y/n took it from him, resisting the urge to snatch it.

She knew it was better for her physical health, but Y/n felt strange about it.

She knew that he was acting this way because of the fact that she had fainted two days before.

"I'm not gonna faint again! Can't we just train normally?"

Taehyun looked at her with a weird expression, showing confusion.

"I thought you hated training."

I do.

What the fuck is wrong with me?

"I-it just feels weird that you're treating me differently. Makes me feel like I'm being treated fairly. What am I supposed to complain about if I'm being treated fairly?"

He crossed his arms across his chest with an amused grin.

"I don't know, maybe that you don't get to live a normal life because your father wants you to marry his mafia idol and you got kidnapped from your attempt to escape it and now you're trapped in a mansion full of teachers until your fianceé fetches you?"

"Did you rehearse that?"

He shrugged.

"Come on, break's over. Did you drink your water?"

Y/n looked down at the unopened bottle in her hands that was still full of water. She then looked up at Taehyun with an expression that answered his question.

"DriNk YoUr dArN wAtEr for goodness sakes!"

She giggled a little before finally opening the bottle.

"Can't sleep?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Cause you can't sleep."

Jisoo sat up and shifted her body to the headboard of the bed. Seokjin did the same.

He turned on the bedside lamp.

"How late is it?"

"Probably midnight."

They stayed silent for a minute, before Seokjin scooted closer to his wife and draped his arm around her, hugging her closer to him.

"Still about the case?"

Jisoo looked up lovingly at him, but with guilt as well.

"Honey, I don't want to keep you up. You can just go to sleep."

"Nope. Come on, let's make coffee."

He got off the bed, dragging her with him. She smiled to herself.

How did I get so lucky?

The kitchen was quiet, as expected. It was the middle of the night after all.

Seokjin put coffee inside the machine and pressed start. After placing a mug underneath for when it was ready, he leaned against the counter and faced his wife.

"So what's up?"

Jisoo was seated on a stool on the kitchen island, on the side that was closer to Seokjin, meaning that the island was behind her.

"Something's up with Felix. He's been acting strangely."

Seokjin tilted his head curiously.

"Like, he was acting as if..."

Jisoo struggled to find the wording.

"... like he... didn't want me to solve the case."

"Why would you think that?"

"I don't know. I mean, I trust him a lot, but it seems like he's being dishonest with me."

The coffee machine started dispensing the hot black liquid into the mug. Seokjin took it away when it was done and gave it to Jisoo, quickly adding more coffee grinds, placing another mug and pressing the button again.

Jisoo took a sip, ignoring the scalding burn that invaded the tip of her tongue. She instantly felt her senses sharpen and her eyelids felt lighter.

She looked at her loving husband and saw his eyelids look just as heavy as before, only now it seemed more obvious to her.

"You don't have to stay u-"

"It's okay. Don't worry about it."

Jisoo closed her mouth and smiled lovingly at him. She really did want to talk to him about Felix.

"I don't know if something's going on with him or anything, or if he's hiding something."

Seokjin took a sip of his fresh coffee.

"He's a good kid. I wouldn't think he has any devious plans of sabotaging your investigation."

Jisoo nodded.

"Feels warm but not hot."

"Oh, sorry I thought it boiled the wat-"

"No, like, I'm close but not there. I need to get to the bottom of this thing with Felix."

"What're you going to do about the investigation? If you still don't trust him, that is."

"If he's hiding something, he'll get suspicious if I exclude him. Maybe I'll have to give him fake information. Or pretend to take a break."

Seokjin looked at her strangely.

"Okay, I'll go with the fake information. In the meantime, I'll investigate privately."

Seokjin put his coffee down and approached Jisoo. He stood just in front of her and looked seriously into her eyes.

"Are you sure about all this? It sounds like a pretty stressful situation."

Jisoo scoffed.

"Please. I'm a detective. It's my job."
