Third Person POV

"That was so nerve wracking!" Uraraka said, falling to her knees.

"Turning the tables at the last moment! A classic Midoriya maneuver!" Iida said proudly.

"He's pulled that shoulder throw on you before, huh?" Kaminari laughed, nudging Bakugo.

"Shut your damn face, Sparky."

"YEAH! THAT WAS ACTUALLY KIND OF A BORING FIRST MATCH, KIDS. BUT BOTH OF THEM FOUGHT BRAVELY. LET'S SHOW THEM SOME LOVE, EVERYONE!"

There was a polite round of applause.

Shinso and Midoriya came to face each other in the middle once again. Their classmates could only guess at what they were saying, as they watched Shinso walk off the stage, leaving Midoriya looking sadly after him.

Y/N almost felt bad for Shinso. But as he was leaving, his classmates all complimented him — and his gloomy face lightened ever so slightly.

Once Midoriya got back up to his seats, he was heavily congratulated by all his peers — except for Y/N.

"Deku, you're such an idiot. You really just couldn't resist opening your mouth, huh? You're lucky you didn't lose like that. It would have been embarrassing."

"Yeah, I know, I know. I was being stupid."

Y/N smiled at him.

"But you pulled through. Not bad."

Her eyebrows then furrowed in concern as she examined his hand, which Recovery Girl had bandaged up. "But your fingers are broken again..."

"It's alright. At least it's just my fingers and not my whole arms," Midoriya replied, scratching the back of his head.

"ENOUGH STANDING AROUND! NOW WELCOME TO THE RING, OUR NEXT PLAYERS!"

Their pictures flashed on the screen at the same time the real figures stepped up to the stage.

"HE'S GOT SKILLS! BUT AT THE EXPENSE OF SOME REALLY CREEPY ELBOWS! FROM THE HERO COURSE, IT'S HANTA SERO!"

The tape boy looked rather disillusioned with Present Mic's description of him.

"VERSUS! AN EARLY FRONTRUNNER IN THE COMPETITION WHO'S WAY TOO STRONG FOR THEIR OWN GOOD! SOMEONE WHO RIGHTFULLY GOT INTO THE HERO COURSE BASED ON RECOMMENDATIONS. IT'S...SHOTO TODOROKI!"

"AND NOW, FOR THE SECOND MATCH OF THE FINALS! READY...BEGIN!"

Sero made the first move, wrapping up Todoroki in his tape and whirling him around in a circle. The boy was dragged around like some sort of rag doll.

"THAT ATTACK COULD THROW HIS OPPONENT OUT OF BOUNDS! A BRILLIANT SURPRISE OPENING FROM THE UNDERDOG! WAY TO START OFF STRONG, SERO!"

But then, without warning...Todoroki sent ice out from his foot, freezing its way towards Sero.

The entire stadium shook as a giant ice wall sprung up from where Todoroki had attacked. It was so large, it went above the roof of the stadium, sticking out like some kind of enormous glacier.

The stadium fell quiet as they stared at the ice, and Sero's head — which was the only part of his body not encased in ice.

Todoroki let out a breath of frost, shaking out his hand, which had frozen over.

"Um...don't you think you weren't overboard?" Sero said through chattering teeth.

"Tell the truth, Sero." Midnight said. "Can you move at all?"
