Third Person POV
"I'm up there! Just call me a hero!" Mineta pumped his fists in the air excitedly.
"I did it," Jiro sighed in relief.
"There I am!" exclaimed Iida.
The other students of Class 1-A celebrated as they each found their names as well.
"What a relief..."
"Magnifique!"
"Another small step towards being a pro!"
"Ribbit!"
"Killed it!"
"Right on! But uh..." Kirishima started, turning to a fuming Bakugo — whose name was absent from the list.
"No..." came his rather strangled response.
Y/N found her name as well and smiled — but it was wiped from her face when she turned to Todoroki. He was quiet, staring at the board with a defeated expression.
His name should have been next to Tokoyami's.
Oh no...
She reached her hand out and paused for a moment before placing it down on his shoulder.
It was the fight. That damn Yoarashi — if he hadn't joined the fight, I'm sure Shoto would have passed. In fact, they both would have.
And speak of the devil — or in this case, think of him — and he will appear.
"Todoroki!" Yoarashi yelled.
Y/N instinctively stepped in front of him, glaring up at Yoarashi.
"Watch it," she warned.
But then, to both of their surprise, Yoarashi bowed so low he smashed his head into the pavement once again.
"I'm sorry! It's my fault that you didn't pass the licensing exam! My focus was too narrow-minded! Forgive me!"
Y/N looked up at Todoroki, who seemed to be deep in thought.
I've tried to ignore that I'm my father's son...but it's something I must come to terms with if I aim to be a hero.
"You're fine. I was the one who got us off to a bad start," he said quietly.
"But...still!"
"And thanks to the things you said to me, I have a lot to think about."
Y/N smiled. It seemed the two might be on the track towards some kind of amicability.
"Holy crap...did he really fail?" Ashido wondered aloud, looking at Todoroki.
"How could two of our top classmates not pass the exam?" Sero shook his head in disbelief.
"Should have been more careful of what you said! Words are important, you know." Kaminari winked at Bakugo.
Shut your mouth before I murder you!" Bakugo growled, his eyes practically glowing with hate.
"Those entitled people at the top think so highly of themselves, don't they? Their own egos are their worst enemies." Mineta said victoriously, before jumping onto Todoroki's back, gripping his shoulder with one hand. "Looks like our class hierarchy is collapsing."
Iida picked up the boy by his face and set him down on the ground while Yaoyorozu and Midoriya looked at Todoroki as well.
"I can't believe this..." Midoriya said quietly.
"Poor Todoroki..." Yaoyorozu added.
Yoarashi still had his head on the ground.
"So...next we'll give you the print-outs of your results. They include a breakdown of your scores, so you'll know exactly what areas you'll need to improve going forward." Mera said.
