Third Person POV

"It's weird. I always forget we're famous to other schools." Jiro said as they followed Mr. Aizawa.

"Oh yeah! We're basically celebrities when it comes to hero course students! No pictures please!" Kaminari joked.

"Wait, hold on. Did you not warn your kids, Eraser?" Ms. Joke said.

Y/N and Todoroki, who were the last to walk away, heard what she said.

"What? Warn us about what?" Y/N asked her, while Todoroki frowned.

"Every time the licensing exam happens, the there's something called—"

"L/N! Todoroki! Let's go." Mr. Aizawa interrupted, forcing the two to leave Ms. Joke, who looked at them rather worriedly.

"What do you think that was about?" Todoroki said quietly.

"I have no idea. It's got me worried though. Do the other classes know something we don't? 'Cause that's going to put us at a disadvantage. What is Mr. Aizawa not telling us?"

"It's like he wants us to fail." Todoroki sighed.

After using the changing rooms to put on their hero costumes, the class joined the other examinees in a very large room. There were so many people that those inside were nearly packed shoulder to shoulder.

Y/N grasped Tsu and Ashido's hands tightly to avoid being separated from them, while Todoroki followed behind her.

"Okay then. Let's do this exam thing."

A voice resounded throughout the entire room, and everyone looked toward the front to see a man with shaggy blonde hair and tremendous eye bags. His voice was dull and drawn out, as he was very visibly exhausted.

"I'm from...um...the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name's Mera. My Circadian rhythm is so screwed up. Aw man. I've been swamped lately and I haven't gotten much rest. We're too short staffed...I'm so tired...with that confession, I'll now begin orientation."

Maybe somebody should give this guy a break — before he passes out. Midoriya thought to himself, slightly concerned.

"So, about the content of this license thing. Basically 1,540 examinees compete in a free-for-all exercise, or whatever we're calling it this year." Mera drawled.

"Seriously? That's not a lot of info." Sero commented.

"See, we've got a lot of pros around, and since Stain was arrested, many people have expressed doubts about the status of heroes in society."

Because there are people who aren't actually worthy to be heroes, and most of society is just beginning to realize that. Y/N thought to herself.

"But, when you really think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you're going to risk your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward, huh? That's just the way the world works. God I could use a coffee. Anyway, whether they're in it for compensation or out of a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together in the streets these days to keep villains at bay."

Hm. I think I know where this is going.

"Honestly, the time between when an incident begins and when it's resolved is ridiculously short. You are all here trying to receive your provisional licenses, so you'll be swept up in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty soon. Those of you who don't have the speed, frankly just won't cut it. Which is why that's what you'll be tested on."

The large screen behind the man lit up, showing text in red and purple.

"The first hundred students to fulfill the requirements will pass today."
