i decided to stay back in the water for a while, after the ilu lesson. i was now riding on my own ilu, Turu. he was a bright blue color with streaks of black going down his back and a white streak going across his face.
Turu was a rescue ilu, found stuck in the coral as a youngling, his mother was no where to be found, so i took him back to the island and my mother helped patch him up. ever since then we've been inseparable.
I was swimming for a little while longer, when i spotted Kiri behind some coral, attaching her Tsaheylu to an ilu, she noticed me and i waved her over.
we swam together going around the coral and seaweed, before Tuk and Tsireya found us and we all swam together, looking around the reef, the ocean was a beautiful sight.

"breathe in... and breathe out" Tsireya said while doing it, i was sitting in between Neteyam and Rotxo, doing exactly what my sister was demonstrating.
"imagine flickering flame, you must slow down your heartbeat" she continued reaching down and placing her hands on Lo'ak's abdomen, he seemed to tense up by the sudden touch, and I'm not the only one who took notice.
"breathe in" she instructed, in which he listened, "breathe from down here, breathe out slowly," she continued, Lo'ak following along while looking at my sister.
"Lo'ak, your heartbeat is fast"
"sorry" he replied looking forward
while my sister gave him more instructions, i noticed Neteyam and Rotxo exchanging small smirks, i rolled my eyes and pushed Rotxo head, him switching up quickly.
I looked over at Neteyam and placed my hand on his abdomen, he let out a shaky breath and looked at me with wide eyes.
"straighten your back" i said, using my free hand i pushed his back up straight, "now take a deep breath... from here" i said pushing lightly on his abdomen.
i looked up at him and smirked, Neteyam just stared at me, im guessing he thought he was doing a good job, because he seemed confident enough in his breathing.
"you need more practice" i smiled and took my hands away from him. his face fell slightly, he looked shocked by my response, staring at me like deer in headlights, I turned back to my sister so she could continue our lesson.

Me, Tsireya, Lo'ak and Neteyam all swam on our ilu together, we flipped and turned dodging all the coral, circling around each other, with huge smiles on our faces.
Neteyam swam next to me, i looked over with a bright smile, to which he returned, i couldn't figure it out yet, but there was something about him, something i so desperately wanted to know.
our ilu's circled each others as we swam up to the surface, Lo'ak and Tsireya broke the surface first, me and Neteyam not far behind them.
"you are learning to breathe" i said looking at the brothers with a smile, Tsireya agreed with a nod and a bright smile.

i was sitting on the shore playing with the shells in my hair while looking out at the beautiful sea.
i heard faint footsteps on the sand behind me, my ear turning up towards the sound, i turned my head slightly and smile at the now familiar face stand above me.
"hey" Neteyam breathed out looking down at me, i patted the spot next to me, letting him know it was okay to sit, which he did.
"hi" i greeted back softly, smiling a little, i looked over at him but then turned my focus back to the ocean.
"sorry to bother you right now, i just... i saw u alone and thought i come ask if we could... practice more" he asked, i chuckled at how nervous he sounded.
"of course, Neteyam" i answered smiling, he returned it.
we started with some breathing exercises, sitting side by side, i placed a hand on his abdomen, pushing lightly to feel his breathing pattern.
at first it was bad, his heartbeat was fast, and he was breathing with his chest and not his stomach. but after some practice it got better.
Next, i suggested teaching him the water language, or 'finger talk' as he would say. first showing him fast then slowing it down.
balling my fist up tightly, i placed it over my heart and rubbed 2 circles.
"strong heart" i said with a slight accent, Neteyam looked at me confused, i repeated myself doing the same hand sign again.
Neteyam tried to repeat but failed, either opening his fist to early or not rubbing 2 circle over his heart.
i shook my head and he tried again...failing, i laughed at his focused faced, grabbing his hand in mine.
he looked down at me, watching as i moved his hands in the correct motion, i looked up and met his eyes, smiling sheepishly at him.
there was a silence between the two of us, i couldn't tell if it was an awkward silence or a comfortable silence, it was just...silent.
still holding his closed fist, we stared at each other for a while before the moment was cut short by someone talking in the distance.
"leave us alone" we heard Kiri say, i looked over my shoulder a little then back at Neteyam.
"Ao'nung" i groaned out, letting out a deep breath, Neteyams whole mood changed within seconds. next thing i knew he was up and walking away towards the scene.
"Neteyam" i said still sitting, turning to look at him walk away, he didn't stop, i turned back in my spot, rolling my eyes and sighing deeply before getting up to follow him.
