"bitch, i don't even know what my strengths and weaknesses are. i don't even know who i am", haewon mentioned quietly while spinning smoothly her pen in one hand.
"you can write down that you can portray a dramaqueen well. it would perfectly fit you", mark teased grinning and looked up from his sheet to face his best friend.
"shut up, mark shark", she spitted back before giving him a playful smack on his arm. "ouch", the canadian expressed with a sulky face and rubbed the spot which got slapped.
"how the f- uh duck did you write so much in such a short time??", chenle questioned when he noticed donghyuck's full essay about his skills (and the latter kept on writing).
the purple haired boy paused for a moment to face his younger friend before he chuckled in amusement.
"i know my strengths and weaknesses better since i was in the drama club last year and thus, know who i am", he explained smiling. "ohhh, that makes sense", the chinese nodded nonchalantly.
"that's why jaemin and jeno are already finished", he added and pointed at the two mentioned boys who were playing rock paper scissors (and the winner gets to flick the loser's forehead) instead of practicing for their short plays.
"crackheads", the orange haired boy shook his head laughing. "says the one who has an own meme folder on his phone", jisung exposed his best friend which made renjun snort.
"traitor", chenle expressed dramatically and gave him a betrayed look. "says the one who exposed me in the group chat", the youngest shot back and gave him a glare for that action. renjun wheezed while chenle giggled at sulking jisung.
"anyways, what have you written so far?", the ash haired boy questioned. "i'm already struggling at this part", he added sighing. "let me help you", chenle offered softly and started to brainstorm with the youngest.
"renjun?", someone called out, making the two-toned haired boy turn into the direction of the person. "was that right?", yejoon inquired with a sheepish smile. renjun nodded and glanced at him in anticipation.
"this might sound weird but you seem to be a chill person. wanna be friends?", yejoon asked directly and tried to act confident but the boy felt utterly shy in reality.
renjun's eyes widened in shock for a moment. he felt off guard as he didn't expect the new boy to talk to him, let alone wanting to be friends with him. they don't even know each other for a day and yet, the guy approached him and wanted to befriend him.
"sure", renjun nodded and gave him a soft smile. "cool!", yejoon stated enthusiastically and mirrored his facial expression.
"how is it going with the assignment?", the brown haired boy inquired curiously and peeked at renjun's sheet.
"i haven't written much yet but well, just some random facts about me i guess", the chinese shrugged his shoulders, continuing to draw on the paper below the writing.
"same here", yejoon agreed and let out a sigh, taking a seat next to the older boy. "what are you drawing by the way?" "it's not something specific, just some doodles", renjun responded casually.
his seatmate examined the drawing of him and gasped in amazement. "woah, this looks so cool. you're mad talented!", yejoon praised which made renjun feel flattered. "thanks a lot", the latter replied and a warm smile grazed his lips.
in the meanwhile, sooyun was already finished with writing about herself and glanced at donghyuck who was still writing.
"not done yet, hm?", she questioned chuckling and the purple haired boy looked up to face her. "yeah, but i'm almost finished", he answered determinedly and continued writing.
"do you know what you want to act for our assignment, sooyun?", hyuck inquired and wrote down his last sentence before dedicating his attention to her.
she shrugged her shoulders. "not really, you?", she threw the question back and the older boy shook his head. "me neither."
"have you already acted or participated in plays?", donghyuck questioned curiously. "yeah! i have had some roles in plays back in elementary and middle school and it was pretty fun", she replied joyfully.
"that's cool!! but how come you haven't acted in high school? it's your third year in high school and i thought you liked acting", the purple haired boy wondered confusedly.
"well", she thought for some moments to collect the right words. "you know, even though i'm in high school now, it's my first year here in this school since i have transferred to this school. plus, my former school hasn't got a drama club", sooyun explained and gave him a little smile. "i'm glad that this school has a drama club."
donghyuck nodded and mirrored her smile. he didn't want to bother her with the question why she moved to this school and dig any further into her backstory as it might make her uncomfortable or bring back bad memories.
he had never intended to make her feel uncomfortable or cross her boundaries. also, they don't know each other for that long yet to share personal things.
"it's nice to see that you enjoy acting!", hyuck changed the topic and saw how sooyun smiled brightly. "me too!!", the blonde girl answered enthusiastically. "sooo, i assume that you have also acted as well?"
the purple haired boy nodded grinning. "yes, it's my second year in drama club and i have already acted several times. well, in the club and in the big school plays", he added proudly.
a warm smile was plastered on sooyun's lips while listening attentively to the talkaktive boy.
at the end by the club session, no one had actually practiced something for their play, let alone know what they want to present. however they interacted and talked a lot to each other. the newbies befriended the members and got to know them better.
the atmosphere was lively and comfortable that no one noticed how quick the time passed by.
"i'm looking forward to next week's drama club session! until then, i wish you a great wee and lots of fun practicing for your play", mrs. cha stated and gave them a lovely smile.
the students returned the kind wish to the teacher before leaving the theatre hall and continued chatting with each other.
"any ideas what you want to perform?", renjun asked the group and everyone shrugged.
"oh my duckidy ducking duck!!", chenle exclaimed when a certain thought crossed his mind.
"why do you say duck the whole time?", yejoon inquired confusedly. "because jaemin doesn't allow him to curse", jeno explained chuckling and jaemin nodded in approval.
"anyways, shoot your idea, chenle", mark encouraged and everyone turned to the second youngest. the chinese grinned from ear to ear.
"i will tell you about it in the groupchat", chenle teased smirking before running away from the group.
"COME ONE, CHENLE. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING", donghyuck yelled after him and felt scammed. a loud, devilish laughter was heard in the distance.
jisung sighed tiredly before looking at the group. "i'm going to catch up on chenle and scold him for leaving us on a cliffhanger. see you around", he explained and started to run after his best friend.
"i can't believe that he ended with a mean teaser", hyuck complained which made sooyun giggle in amusement.
"kids these days", jaemin shook his head in disappointment. "i know right", haewon agreed and shook her head too.
