Sunstreaker’s P.O.V.
I do not like Sideswipe’s idea of spending time with Lily. Even for an hour a day, he knows how to make me do most things he wants. He has no luck if I know it’s something stupid, and this is something I refuse to do; spend time with a stupid human.
“You’re a fragging bastard, you know that?” I sulk, “all this time after all the humans have done to our race, and you want me to befriend one?!”
“Perhaps two when Jamie returns, but yes,” Sideswipe smiles, “Lily is only twelve and doesn’t know much about us. It seems all she knows is the two sides in the war, and her family knows we’re the good side.”
“A child, though? She’s better off being your friend.”

Like yesterday, Lily is spying on me as I’m working out.
“A little clumsy today, are we?” I tease as I hear the click of her phone camera.
She failed to lower the volume before taking a picture. I don’t know why I’m not looking to attack her for spying on me. Instead, I continue my routine.

Once I’m done, I see Lily isn’t even bothering to hide and another femme running out of the room.
“Don’t even think about following me!” I yell as I head to the showers

Lily isn’t in the room when I walk out of the shower room — either that, or she’s playing hide and seek.
“I’m not playing!”
I walk out of the room and head to my art room.

“Hi!”
Ugh, you got to be kidding me!
“Go away!” I demand and open the door.
“Can I join you?” Lily asks, smiling.
“No! Get lost!”
Her smile disappears, and she walks away like a puppy that got scolded.

I was expecting Sideswipe to talk to me through our bond, but he walks into the room ten minutes later, closing the door behind him.
“You could have let her join you,” he says.
“What did she tell you?”
“That you told her to go away. Come on, she just wants to be your friend.”
Sideswipe opens the door.
“Wait, was she crying when she told you?”
Sideswipe looks at me, surprised I even asked, “no, but she’s upset.”
He leaves the room as I work on a new piece. Feeling his disappointment. Like Lily, he’ll keep trying. I don’t know why he is determined. He knows how cybertronians would fake being our friends and ditch us. At least she’s too young to get me to date her, and that’s even harsher.

Lily’s P.O.V.
I sit in the hallway by the cafeteria, waiting for Luke and trying not to cry. Crosshairs and Drift walk down the hall, talking until they see me and run to me.
“What are you doing here?” Drift asks as the two sit on their knees next to me.
“What did Sunstreaker do?!” Crosshairs asks, his voice raised.
“Crosshairs, stop. What’s wrong, Lily?”
“I’m waiting for Luke so I can tell him to take me home.”
“Because Sunstreaker doesn’t want to be your friend?” Drift asks, “you were already told if there’s any chance he’ll want to be your friend, it’ll take time.”
“Besides, there are twenty other Autobots you can befriend here and several humans. Like Ratchet’s girlfriend, Jasmine, or Lennox’s oldest daughter, Annabelle.”
I heard what Crosshairs said, but seeing Mirage walk by made me realize that I need to work on my spying techniques.

“Kid, you know spying on a psychopath is a terrible idea?” Mirage asks, “one of these days, he’ll snap and kill you.”
“Or I can help him!” I argue, “or is this the I’m only twelve and can’t do anything shit?!”
“No! This is saving your aft from being killed!”
I run out of his office, slamming the door in Mirage’s face.

Back in Luke’s room, I get my sketchbook and continue the sketch of Sunstreaker, thinking about another sketch I want to try because I’m not good at drawing one person’s head, never mind a scene. My phone keeps vibrating, but I ignore it.

Twenty minutes pass before Luke walks in. I quickly hide the sketchbook.
“You know everyone is looking for you?”
“I don’t care. They won’t have to because I’m going home!”

It’s interesting seeing my shy sister is determined to make a friend. I wish she’d try harder to be friends with Sideswipe or other Autobots. I’m at a loss for what to do.

“Well, we didn’t think past spring break,” mom admits over the phone, “I don’t want her to be friends with an Autobot who could turn around and kill her, but I don’t want her to give up making friends. This could make her not bother to go after what she wants.”
“Sideswipe knows how to deal with his brother, but Lily is impatient,” I explain.
Mom talks to Lily, insisting she stays for the rest of spring break, and talk to the other Autobots. Lily is not pleased but agrees. It’s only been four days, and she can befriend many other Autobots.
“Come on, Sideswipe is worried.”

I’m unsure if I like how Lily ignores Sunstreaker as we walk by him.
Are you no longer determined, Lily?

We have a game night, even if it’s taking turns playing a two-player racing game in the lounge room. Everyone has a good time. Drift suggests we go this every night until Lily’s spring break ends. Everyone agrees, and we’ll see about playing other games and getting soldiers to join us. We also have a pool table and air hockey in the lounge room.

Lily still says she’s considering going home early as we return to our room. Perhaps she’ll change her mind in a few days. Maybe she’ll befriend Sunstreaker — and hopefully others — and our parents will let her come here on the weekends and the entire summer. Or this will not end well, and I’ll be in so much trouble.

“She’s considering going home early. It’s now or never.”
“You know what to do.”
“Yes, sir.”
