Ch. 12 Confusion

Lily's P.O.V.
I slept until four in the afternoon. At least my headache is gone. Sunstreaker is asleep on the other bed. No surprise, Sideswipe is sitting at the desk, playing a game on his phone, but he must have been checking on me periodically as he rushes to me.
"Shh, you're safe," he whispers, "come on, Optimus and Ratchet want to talk to you."
 
"You are a hybrid," Ratchet explains, "but I've never seen the change happen the way it happened to you. Do you feel your sense of sight, hearing, and smell suddenly heightened?"
"N-no?"
"It's ok; I'm unsure if full transformation is delayed or you are distracted."
I don't know what to think when hearing 'transformation.'
"Don't tell her the other detail yet," Sideswipe insists, "we can wait six years."
What's going to happen when I'm eighteen? Considering Jasmine was twenty-four when she was saved with Energon, I don't think she'll know.
"Even though it's normal, let me know when your senses feel heightened or any changes since this is different," Ratchet insists.
"Come on, you need to eat," Drift insists, "something other than cookies," he jokes.

Sideswipe's P.O.V.
"I wonder if she'll try to talk to Sunstreaker about what we're not telling her," I smile.
"It'll be something to get her to want to talk to him, and perhaps he can get her to talk about something else or do something with her."

"I worry she's going to be scared," Sunstreaker admits, "she's only twelve, and this is different. What if her headache is part of this scrap?"
I can only smile, hearing how worried he is about a human. I know this isn't the beginning of Sunstreaker's personality changing and the end to his psychopath ways, but this is nice to see.

We go to the cafeteria, hoping Lily will let us sit with her since she's with Crosshairs and Drift. Sunstreaker pays close attention to Lily. As we get closer to the table, she panics, and soldiers look at her and then at Sunstreaker in disgust.
"Even scaring a child?" One rages, "hard to believe that Lennox lets his kids stay here."
I take Sunstreaker's plate so he can try to help Crosshairs and Drift, but Lily passes out by the time he gets to them.
Ok, Fred, I don't know how Sunstreaker should thank you. Even if he just ignored a soldier raging at him.
"We should take her to the medbay," Drift suggests.
Neither mech tells Sunstreaker to stay here.

Sunstreaker's P.O.V.
"Lay her here," Jasmine instructs as she stands in an exam room, pointing to the bed.
I stand in the hallway, watching Drift lay Lily on the bed. Crosshairs covers her with his trench coat. Jasmine finds nothing concerning with Lily's vitals. Though she is concerned that Lily isn't waking up.
"Ratchet, you have to do a head scan," I insist as he walks into the room.
"That wouldn't detect if the nanobots are influencing her passing out," Jasmine points out.
The four of us know this means our only option is brain surgery, but that's dangerous, and retrieving a microscopic bot is challenging to impossible. 
"Fred's notes seem to suggest the nanobots are programmed to influence Lily's dreams," Ratchet points out, "while it's only been eight hours since that reprogramming, I wonder how likely it is these bots keep Lily asleep when she passes out and triggers a good dream about Sunstreaker?"
There are only two ways to know, and we have already ruled out one way. Wish there was a third way because I don't want to watch Lily pass out and wait for her to wake up.
"It's your call, Sunstreaker," Ratchet tells me.
Crosshairs and Drift tell me they'll talk to her. This is interesting, considering they know how I am, and this might change nothing. For now, I'm leaving the medbay.

Lily's dream
It may be a nice day outside, but I want to stay in my room and draw. 
"Honey, it's a nice day outside. Go play," mom insists.
"You know you can draw outside?"
"Sunstreaker!"
Like a little girl, I run up to him, almost knocking him off his feet. I am fourteen inches shorter than him, but he always picks me up to hug him.
"Are you sure they're not dating, mom?" Luke teases.
"Na-ah, too young."
We all laugh, and Sunstreaker takes me outside to his alt mode.
"I know of a good place where we can sketch the scenery."

He takes me to the beach.
"Ok, I also planned a beach day, just the two of us," he takes a bag out of his subspace, "Luke helped me get some things."
Sunstreaker planned for us to go swimming along with doing some sketching. Shame Luke couldn't convince mom to let us go camping. Maybe I can convince her.

We have fun in the water until sunset. Sunstreaker is right; this is beautiful scenery. Just wish I was a little older.
"Don't tell your mom," Sunstreaker smiles.
"Tell her what—?"
I can't believe Sunstreaker is kissing me!
"I love you, and I'll wait until you're older to make you mine," he smiles.

It was only a dream. Why am I in the medbay? Then I remembered I passed out from seeing Sunstreaker, so why did I have a nice dream about him? Am I going to seem like I'm going insane if I tell Ratchet?
"I take it you had a good dream?" Crosshairs asks, "you have the same look Jamie sometimes has. That 'it was only a dream? Damn it' look."
"How can I have good dreams after passing out from fear of seeing him?"
"You just met him a week ago, and after he scared you, I think your mind isn't sure if you should be afraid," Drift explains.
"You know the gist of his past and why others say to stay away, "Crosshairs reminds me, "you need to be careful."
"He was worried about you both times you passed out."
They tell me it'll take time, but I think I'll like Sunstreaker again. Joking about me being obsessed with him again.

The two mechs take me back to the cafeteria and end up cooking dinner seeing our food was cleaned up.
I catch Sunstreaker watching us, but he leaves the second I see him. I worry I'll have more days passing out or even nightmares before I stop feeling afraid of him, even if I also have good dreams about him. I hope this confusion doesn't last long.
