Jefferson took Angie to another room, one with a wall filled with top-hats. All the same. There was a table there, with some fabric, scissors, pins and needles and hat molds

"I don't know what you think you're doing, but if you hurt my sister and my friend I'll make you regret it" Angie threatened him

"Hurt them? I'm saving their lives" Jefferson said, stepping closer to Angie, making her step back

"How do you figure that?" Angie asked, walking backward as he kept moving towards her

"Don't play stupid. We both know what happens when people try to leave Storybrooke" he replied

"What?" Angie asked confused

"The curse" Jefferson said

Angie unconsciously stopped walking then "What curse?" she asked softly

"The one keeping us all trapped. All except you and your sister" he explained

"How do you know that? Did you talk with Henry?" wondered Angie

"Henry? You mean the Queen's father?" Jefferson asked

"Henry, Regina's adopted son, my sister's son. My nephew" Angie clarified

"Oh, your Henry and his book of stories. The ones that you and your sister choose to ignore. Maybe if you knew what I know, you wouldn't" he said

"Why have you been spying on me?" Angie tried to change the subject

Jefferson started pacing then "Because for the last 28 years I've been stuck in this house. Day after day, always the same" he explained "Until one night, you and your sister roll into town in that little yellow bug, and the clock ticks, and things start to change. You see, I know what you and your sister refuse to acknowledge, Angie. You are special. You two brought something precious to Storybrooke: Magic" he said, looking at her in the eyes

"Magic? Really?" Angie was intrigued now. She needed to know how could he know so much about the curse without talking to Henry

"You think I'm crazy because I talk about magic, but I'm talking about what I've seen" he said, walking around the table and back to where Angie stood "Perhaps you're the one that's mad because what's crazier than seeing and not believing? That's exactly what you and your sister have been doing since you got to our little Hamlet. Open your eyes. Look around. Wake up. Isn't it about time?"

"What do you want from me?" asked Angie, still unsure of where this was going to

"I want you to get it to work" he replied, pushing her down to sit at the table

"You want me to get what to work?" she asked confused, until she saw the hat in front of her

"You're the only one that can do this" he spoke from behind her, practically whispering in her ear "You're going to get it to work" he told her, resting his head on top of hers

He then went to one of the drawers to grab some fabric, dropping it in front of Angie "Make one like that" he ordered, pointing to the hat on the table

"You want me to make a hat?" she asked, still confused "You don't have enough?"

"Well none of them work, do they?" he asked back "Or else you wouldn't be here. Now, make a hat and get it to work" he said, sitting down on a chair on the other side of the table

Angie started to protest "I don't-" but Jefferson cut her off "You have magic. You can do it"

Looking around the room, Angie saw another tea set and started putting the pieces together "The hats, the tea, your 'eccentric' behaviour..." she trailed off and looked at him "You are the Mad Hatter" she said
