EPPC One-Year Hiatus - The Future of EPPC (Please Read!)

Well, you heard that right. It's been over a year since the last chapter released (January 19th, 2022). For the first time ever, EPPC went dark for an entire year without a chapter release.

Listen I, uh, don't usually post these kind of things on my stories because I like to keep my chapters organized and not have anything unrelated to what is happening to the story, but I feel that this is important enough to include.

Now before you share your concerns, no I am not discontinuing this story. This story and the characters are all way too special for me to give up on completely. And plus there are upcoming plot reveals that I am still eager to want to reveal to you guys.

That said, here's what I'm going to do now: I'm completely rewriting this story and starting from scratch.

HUH?

But Luxy, you've already come so far! 30 chapters in eight years!

Yeah that's true. Hell, I've been considering a rewrite as early as 2019. It was because of that progress that I held back for so long.

But Luxy, what's going to happen to the original? Are you going to delete all that history from the face of the earth?

No, actually! One of the main reasons I held back on a rewrite was because that would mean that the original would have to be deleted. But then I realized pretty late that I don't have to do that; the original can just be labeled as the old version/archive! The rewrite will be a completely separate book! The old version may have its story flaws and cringe moments, but there are some golden moments that I'd like to savor for y'all to come back to for nostalgia's sake.

But Luxy, what if the new version goes dark for a year without a chapter release like the old one?

I'll be honest, the main reason the unreleased Chapter 31 could not be completed within a year after the previous was because I was starting to feel unmotivated due to how much I've grown to dislike the direction of the story and the numerous decisions I made with the story and the characters. To be fair I started writing this at 11-turning-12, but those flaws just continued over the years and made writing the story hard for me as story directions recent me would make would clash with the directions past younger me made. I've been writing this story for so long that these flaws just became too much for me to edit. There are major things I want to change, and I can't just shoehorn it all in. A rewrite would be more fulfilling at that point.

Now referring back to the question: honestly, there may still come a time that new EPPC goes one year without a chapter, but this time if it happens, I might accept it for what it is. Circumstances I'm in today are a lot different from when I started writing the original as a preteen; I'm an adult now, I'm in university, I'm studying art and just starting my progress on a portfolio to aim to be a character designer! And I really want to fulfill my artistic dreams, so I may have more focus on that than EPPC if anything. However, the fact that I am now free to rewrite it with the directions I've been wanting for so long but couldn't do is a really big motivator for me to write, unlike the original where updates have been slow due to my dissatisfaction in its direction. So who knows! Maybe despite my adulting era, chapters may still come out a lot more frequently than they did in recent EPPC years! Only time will tell. I also plan on maybe simplifying my current writing style to make it easier on me and so chapters can be published faster too.

So, Luxy... what major changes do you have in store that would justify a complete rewrite?

Not all of them are set in stone, but I do have a few in mind:

- Fuji Suzuki/Cure Verdant ≫ Eiko Fujimori/Cure Zephyr
- Kohana Watanabe ≫ Konoha Hanazono
- Princess Zaira Ademordna ≫ Princess Celeste Andromedafos Kleidi Platina
- Destruction Domain ≫ Destra
- Lyruru ≫ Silvio
- removal of all fairies except for Gilda and Silvio (although I'm also considering keeping only one of the two)

Okay so those were just name changes (subject to change) which I'm not sure would be labeled "major changes," but trust me there will be said changes in all characters and stories as well! Not to mention the direction of the plot itself will probably be different as well and I may switch up plot points in the story timeline. Everything I have in mind so far warrants a complete rewrite. This is just a little preview I wanted to give to keep you guys hanging around.

So, Luxy... got a release date?

Very obviously no. There is still a lot to unpack in my brain's writing room, and I really want to think through every plot point I consider so I won't have to experience a dilemma of wanting to edit something with a new direction for a character/story but being unable to because that would require mass editing on 30 chapters that are roughly 20-40k words long each. My desire to simplify my writing style also comes from this. So it may be a while before I can publish the first chapter of the rewrite. Maybe I can update you all on progress in the future whether on my profile or on here. But it's coming! Hopefully by the end of this year...
