Chapter 28「The Play's the Thing」

"The Arcadian Tamburello..."

On the grand staircase of the Mirage Domain palace's ground floor stood the young princess, her back turned upon seven girls. In her hands was a magical loop.

"It is an object spoken of in distant Precure legends; one that is capable of greatness if powered to its full potential."

All seven girls were listening in awe as Zaira informed them of the very treasure in their possession.

"Of greatness..." Natsumi whispered, awestruck.

"There have been stories; myths of legendary warriors from the distant past utilizing the power of it, but..." Zaira turned to face the girls below her. "I never would have imagined the fairies here would be capable of summoning such a treasure, let alone confirm its existence." Holding it up to the light, the princess watched as the rainbows of the nearest stain glass windows reflected upon the tambourine, shining its colors radiantly amid a kingdom of ruins.

The girls and fairies continued to speechlessly be mesmerized by its appearance.

"It's amazing, really. I have to applaud the fairies for somehow bearing the fabled determination within them to summon an object so particular..." She angles the object one way, to which soft jingles gave way.

"Well, what now?" Rie queried.

"Hm?"

"You said that it's capable of greatness when it's to its full potential..." Rie stepped forward. "We're still far from achieving the power up to its limit, are we?"

"Well, I'm afraid so." sighed Zaira. "The fairies were able to power it to some extent, however with the absence of Miharu's fairy, it is currently not possible for the Arcadian Tamburello to reach its greatest heights beyond what you girls managed to do today."

"It was the Neo-Daiabo." Fuji nodded. "According to Yamamura-san, it's able to withstand our purification attacks, be it those with and without our weapons. But thanks to that new object..."

"It managed to only give our group attack a boost that was able to defeat the Neo-Daiabo." Kohana finished, remembering the finale of the battle.

"I see... Even so, I wouldn't underestimate their new Daiabo. Necro and his underlings are growing stronger, much like how you girls are too. If you do not keep up with their skill level, you will be defeated eventually..."

The girls peered down, slapped by nothing but the harsh truth if they were to slack. But things were still going well, weren't they? Aside from the unreached potential the Arcadian Tamburello hid behind its beauteous appearance.

"R-Right..." The girls all peered down as Zaira stepped down the staircase, standing on the very first tread.

"Which is why you girls are going to have to master the art of Mana Combos."

"Eh?" The girls were instantly taken aback.

"Mana... Combos?" Miharu raised an eyebrow, cocking her head in thought.

"You mean... like those duo combo moves we sometimes use in the middle of a battle?" Natsumi queried.

"Not quite~tia..." Sproutia soared over to the tambourine-like object. "This object can store mystical energy within that is known as mana~tia. The same energy that powers the Pavilion of Cognizance back at the Mirage Domain~tia! With it, it can serve as a link between sorcery and Precure power~tia. If used correctly, that is~tia."

"What do you mean, Sproutia?" Yuki stepped forward.

"Look, your friends may not have sorcerer's blood like you do, but with the Arcadian Tamburello, you'll be capable of using your sorcery to support them and weave it into their power temporarily~ru." Lyruru explained, lightly carrying the object that remained in Zaira's hands.
