Ch.18

Kit was shivering under the rain behind a abandoned  wall . He sat on the ground with his head between his knees trying to hide from those people. He was having a panic attack. His tears were flowing like a uncontrollable river . His tears became one with the rain.

He was not in a condition to came out from his hidding place and go to his home. He felt their dirty touches burn him.

The thunderstorm was not helping him either.

"Please don't... please" Kit was in a unstable state begging to nobody.

Beam was locking his door in the morning to go to work. He looked at Kit's door which was still locked.

" Mama , uncle Kitty" Akira told Beam.

When Beam turned his head to looked at Kit he forget to breathe for a moment seeing Kit's state.

Kit's torn clothes were clung to his body. His hair and clothes were still wet. That means he spent the night under rain.
He was barefoot while his feet were bleeding. He had wound on his body and face. Dried blood on his nose and lips. Bite marks on his neck. His eyes looked lifeless. Looking into nothing just trying to walk to his room while limping.
He didn't even notice Akira and Beam who was standing in the corridor.

Beam got out from his shock and went near Kit.

" Kit" Beam slowly called Kit with concern.

Kit didn't reply but turn his eyes towards Beam and started panicking again.

"Please don't do this... I... I'm sorry.. sorry" Kit was saying while trying to protect him from invisible attacks .

" Look at me kit, it's me Beam" Beam was shaking Kit to come to his senses but Kit kept saying sorry again and again.

Beam hugged Kit to calm him down . Tears started to form in Beam's eyes to seeing Kit's condition.

Suddenly Kit lose his senses in Beam's arm in front of his room.

Today Beam didn't have work in the hotel. He was preparing to work in some random supermarket to help lifting boxes from the truck. The boxes were not that much heavy but the problem was there was many boxes to be transferred inside the store . So, Beam went there to help whenever he could to earn some extra money. If the shop owners didn't need help than he would distribute some flyers or he would search for some other jobs.

Beam was changing the wet clothe on Kit's forehead. Kit was running a high fever.

Beam just had a small medicine tube for bruises but Kit had some serious wound.

Beam wanted to take him to hospital but he can't take him if he didn't wake up.

Kit was sleeping in Beam's room .
Akira was silent too.

" Mama tell daddy to help " Akira suddenly told Beam.

" Yeah we will" Beam tiredly said. These days Akira was telling Beam that he met daddy. In the past Akira used to call stranger's daddy . Beam even showed Akira the only picture of Tae he had . After that Akira stopped calling stranger's as his daddy but Akira was doing it again. This time Beam didn't tell Akira to stop because Big , a guard from the hotel also told Beam that how a guest of the hotel talked to Akira nicely. Maybe that stranger just loved kids. And Akira was so adorable according to his colleagues. Even his boss loved Akira. Beam let Akira called that stranger daddy. But he didn't let Akira roam around the hotel again.

Beam wanted to buy some medicine but he didn't want to leave Kit alone seeing Kit's unstable state. Earlier he didn't even recognise Beam.

Beam didn't go to his job hunting leaving Kit alone. Money was important but Kit was more important for him .

Beam decided to sew  Kit's sweater which was torn  . It was Kit's favourite sweater , probably his only warm sweater with no holes. But now it torn in places.

Beam tried not to cry sewing it.

Suddenly Kit moved and slowly opened his eyes. Kit started panicking again. Beam started to whispering soothing words in Kit's ears. Kit finally calm down.

After some hours Beam tried to make Kit eat something but Kit was unresponsive. He was just starring. Beam wanted to take him to hospital but Kit didn't move from his place. Kit didn't even cry. He was looking like a lifeless doll . The night went on like that. When the morning came Beam took Kit to a government hospital . Kit didn't speak with him but this time he let Beam took him with him . He just followed Beam while holding on Beam's arm. Beam carried Akira in his carrier bag on his chest while holding Kit's hand.

When they reached the hospital the doctor said it would be a costly treatment seeing Kit unresponsive state. Beam looked at the money he brought with him . It was not enough. He brought all his savings, which was supposed to give the debt collector . Beam asked them if they could get a discount. Doctor said that the hospital had a limit of their discount, so, they couldn't help.

But the doctor gave him a card of another hospital and told them to go there. That hospital gave discount to the first 1000 people who applied for discount in a day. But this hospital was really grand . That was why it was difficult to get the discount.

Beam didn't waste their time and immediately went to the hospital.
When they entered the hospital Beam can tell why this hospital was different than the others . Maybe if he couldn't get a discount coupon, he would  have to  left .

The line for the application was really long. Beam told Kit to seat on the resting room while he was waiting in the line but Kit didn't want to leave him .

Akira was sleeping on Beam's arm while Kit didn't leave his hands. Beam just closed his eyes and prayed to the God for the discount coupon while waiting tiredly in the line.
