Heavy breathing and the rustling of grass could be heard as the two ran through the more bushy area, finally stopping to hide behind the tree. "Did we lose them?... " the shorter brown-haired male asked as he leaned back on the tree and tried to keep himself standing.

"I am not sure... I can't see them though, so we might have lost them." The taller male said, looking back and around.

"How did we end up like this in the first place...?"

---------------------------------------

A few minutes ago, the two boys were merrily walking around the carnival with their bags and whatnot. "Man, I ate a lot. Before the cotton candy, I ate tokoyaki and had two to three cups of tea," Anim informed.

"you will get sick."

"Nah, my immune system is like an elephant; I don't get sick that easily. Even if I do, that would probably be because of the magic tricks I pull on a daily basis."

"Yeah, but still. That's no excuse to become careless with your health now."

"Pusht- it's fine. Don't worry about it."
Anim shrugged it off as if Yuma would stop worrying about it. Do we want what happened last time to repeat itself again? Hmm? Yeah, I think not.

It really is concerning how often he dismisses his illnesses just because he can't die. We are casually defying the laws of nature here.

"Yuma? Are you going to look around more?" Anim asked, "You know you have a lot of bags now, ya know?"

"Hmm. Well we could go back to the lounge Castle," Yuma hummed, thinking about the suggestion. Anim chocked for a minute as he took another minute to process what Yuma just said, "A... A what now?"

"The Lounge Castle. Don't tell me you didn't know."

"Because, of course, there had to be a castle. Why am I even surprised?" he laughed, as Yuma just stood confused. Sometimes he couldn't comprehend what the shorter male said; it was almost drunken talk but not drunken talk.

Anim walked a little forward, "Alright, let's just sprint head-on to the castle then! We can drop off your things and see what we do afterwards."

"ησт ѕσ ƒαѕт"

"Wha-?" He turned his head to the side, only to see someone charging towards him with a sharp blade. Anim was so taken aback by this that he instantly stumbled backwards and landed on the hard concrete ground, scraping his palm and finger tips which started bleed a bit in the process.

"Huh-?! Are you okay? Why did you suddenly fall?" Yuma dropped his items as he ran up to him. He was helping him up as Anim shook his head a bit, blinking a few times.

"I... Where is that guy I just saw?"

"What? There are many people here; what are you talking about?"

"That guy with the blade... No. Wait.."

'Another hallucination?' Anim thought as his gaze fell to the floor. 'It can't be. It was too real...'

Yuma helped Anim stand up on his feet as he dusted the slight dust from his clothes; all the while Anim still remained confused. Yuma noticed the injuries on Anim's hands and was thankful he didn't bash his head on the pavement because that would have been worse.

Yuma frowned his eyes, saying, "You and I would have talked about this. For now, let's get home... I think that is on our priority list a little more now." Yuma's words became low as his eyes pointed at the vampires walking around the carnival, staring at Anim as they passed by.

"What... But my scent has died down, right? I thought I did the spell right" Anim spoke in a panic now. Stepping close to Yuma as if he would hide him from everyone.
Yuma said, "Look, I don't know what you did." But it did work a bit; your scent is not as strong as it usually is. But It's not completely gone like it was minutes ago."

"Shit... Why do I always mess up?" Anim cursed as he looked around in distress. Suddenly, he noticed a sharp blade that layed on the ground. It was the same blade he saw in the "hallucination." He knew it was risky to leave Yuma's side, but he had to go and pick up the blade, to confirm that he wasn't just going insane.

He moved away from Yuma as he walked to the blade and tried to pick up the thing. Extending his hand out to touch the blade, the slightest contact made the whole blade turn into dust, leaving behind a trail of small bubbles.

Anim's eyes widen as he quickly retreated his hand, "What the fu-?"

"Ah!!  Vampire bats! Why are you coming this way!?" Someone from the crowd yelled. Everyone's attention turned to the swarm of bats as they seemed to be flying straight towards Anim.

Yuma widen his eyes, picked up his bags, and held Anim's hand, "Run, Run!!"

"Huh-" And off they go running.

"Vampire bats—Um—They feed on the blood of other animals and host... demon world vampire bats must like human blood more, right? Kinda like you, gosh, nevermind, um, uh, my blood is not giving off that strong of a scent, right?"

In the current time, Anim frantically moved around the patch of grass as he flipped through the pages of his notebook, finding nothing of use. Yuma sighed as he took the book from Anim's hands and held his hand gently in his.

"Calm down, you chipmunk. I don't know about you, but you will end up giving me a headache," Yuma stated as he examined Anim's hands; however, he didn't see any cuts anymore.

"I... Sorry..." Anim apologized. A lot of things happened within minutes that he didn't even have time to process. Yuma softened his facial expression as he leaned down a little, leaning on Anim's forehead with his.

"Don't apologize, geez... If I saw a hallucination and then got chased by vampire bats, who would kill me. I would have been panicking too," he assured, gently rubbing the back of his hand.

"But... there are just so many layers to that..."

"Shuhh. For now just calm down. We are out of trouble here, so just take a few deep breaths and then we can leave."

Anim pressed his lips together, and Yuma let go of the boy. Anim looked up at him as a sigh of relief finally escaped his lips: "Alright. Alright. Thanks Yuma..."

"Ah, don't mention it," Yuma nodded with a smile. "Just wish that those bats don't start chasing us again."

"Haha, yeah... By the way, I don't think they were any ordinary demon bats either, I think they were- FUCK THEY ARE BACK!!" Anim yelled as he saw the swarm of the same bats flying straight towards them.

Yuma turned his head around, widening his eyes, "Shit- excuse me, Anim, but we have to escape, so forgive me." Yuma said those words so quickly that Anim was only able to process a "huh." Before he got picked up by Yuma like a sack of potatoes, and they were zooming off with lightning speed.

didn't really make things better because the bats were also somehow lightning fast, so Anim was only left with a pale expression as he only watched the bats fly nearer and nearer with no other way to look around.
