I woke up to the sun hitting my face and I groaned as I sat up, pain flowing through my lower back.
"Fuck these hospital couches" I groggily said under my breath. When I looked up I realized Y/n was still asleep.
I grabbed my phone from my pocket to see 7:28AM written on the screen.
Maddie made a coo noise so I slowly started towards her. Her bright blue eyes met mine and I smiled.
"Hi tinka" I said quietly, picking the small baby up and resting her in my arm.
She curled up against my bare chest and I smiled as she stayed staring at me.
Just then, I heard a light knock on the door and walked over to open it. It was our nurse.
"Hi Mr. Brock, I know it's quite early, so sorry for the interruption. Is mom awake?" She asked and I shook my head.
"No, no, she was up a while with the baby, feeding her" I explained and she nodded.
"Well I have some good news" she told me, looking down and then back up from her clipboard that held papers on it.
"Your going home today, with the baby. I have both of their discharge papers ready for whenever you all decide the best time is" she explained and I felt a wave of excitement.
"Oh boy, okay. Thank you, uhm could you help me with something?" I asked and she raised her eyebrows for me to go on.
"Could you help me bathe her?" I asked, looking down to Maddie who was looking around the open space. "I'm not sure how to... not properly"
"Oh yes of course, first time dads need a bit of help from time to time, no worries" she said and I let her in the room.
She walked into the bathroom and I took a glance at Y/n before following our nurse.
She reached into a small cabinet and pull out bathing supplies for a baby. "We keep this here just for emergencies or first baths etc." she said and I watched as she turned the bathtub on.
I undressed Maddie from her outfit from yesterday and sat her in the luke-warm water.
She waved her hands and feet in the water and smiled a bit. I heard a noise and seen Y/n walk in with a smile on her face.
"My baby is smiling!" She exclaimed with a giggle. I smiled at her and she sat next to me to help with the bath.
The nurse had told us what we needed to know and she stood back and supervised as we bathed Maddie.
"So... occasion?" Y/n said, breaking my attention away from the baby. "We're going home today" I said and smiled warmly.
She perked up and smiled a cheesy grin at me and laughed. "Really?! That's great... finally, I can sleep in my own bed" she sighed dramatically which caused me to laugh.
Soon, we were done with Maddie's first bath, we took some pictures as well. I decided to post one on Instagram.
