Colby's POV

When dad and I pulled up next to my car that was parked on the side of the road, I noticed Y/n with a big dog.

"Hey" I said as I walked up to her, the dog barked.

"Your okay sweetie" Y/n soothed and she looked up to me.

"Let her smell you so she knows your not danger to her" she said and I stuck my hand up, my fingers close to palm incase of a bite.

"See there you go, hi honey" I said and petted her head.

"I have a feeling she won't want to leave her" my dad said and I nodded.

"Okay, you have the puppies in the car?" I asked and she nodded as she pointed to the box of 5 puppies that lay cuddled up in the seat behind her.

"Dad, will you drive Y/n and the dogs to the house, Kat you stay with me or go with her?" I asked and she thought for a moment.

"I'll go with Y/n with the puppies, we have to get them home and warm" she said and I nodded.

"Ok, let's get momma loaded up" I said and we walked to the truck where Y/n got in the back and I tried to get the dog in there but she wouldn't budge.

"Okay girl, I gotta pick you up" I said and slowly reached my arms around her front and back end, lifting her from the ground and onto the seat next to Y/n.

She immediately shook with fear but Y/n tried to calm her down. I handed Kat the box of puppies after she got up front and my dad drove away.

I walked to my car and went to the back to check on Maddie.

When she seen me, she smiled "dada".

"Yes hi baby, we're going home now I love you" I said and kissed her forehead before shutting the door and getting up front to drive off home.

Colby's POV

When I pulled up, Y/n was desperately trying to get the dog out of the truck.

"Babe come get her down" Y/n said as I got out of the car.

"I'll get Maddie" Sam said and walked out. While I was getting her out, Sam had Maddie and was standing behind us.

She instantly perked her ears and started sniffing when she got out and then jumped up on Sam.

"Woah girl, easy" Y/n said and held her collar. "You can't eat the baby" I said and crouched down if front of her.

A look of worry stormed through her eyes. "Where's her pups?" I asked and grabbed her leash that I had accidentally grabbed of Elton's when we moved.

I followed Y/n into the garage and seen a big box with blankets and a heating pad, the puppies inside.

The dog ran over to them in an instant, smelling each one and then laying down with them as they began to nurse.

"She's super smart" Y/n said and I looked at her.

"She wouldn't come to me so I followed her and she lead me to 2 more puppies, then sat in front of me to let me know there were no more" she told me.

I went over and sat down next to the box. Momma laid her head on my knee as I pet her head.

"She's a good dog" I said and Y/n sat beside me, a hand on her belly.

I placed a hand on it as well and rubbed it softly which caused momma to lift her head up.
