Ryuko didn't know what to expect when she came to UA today... well, technically, she did, but she couldn't help but feel emotionally under-equipped for this situation. Walking past the check-in at the big iconic gate and into the main building, anxious was far too inappropriate a term for how she was feeling now.

Today she was going to visit Eri, and Aizawa gave Ryuko the decision to take her in or not, which the dragoon hero appreciated. She had only gotten so many details from Aizawa, but she had heard enough to feel sorry for the girl, at least more so than she already did. Eri had been through so much, despite her age.

Even if Ryuko didn't have her reasons for being here, had she dismissed the request, her conscience would never let her live it down.

What were her reasons, you may ask?

Sympathy and a soft spot for children, for one. Owing Aizawa a favour for another.

Convincing UA to let her take her new interns on the raid against the Yakuza required quite a bit of greasing on the wheels, to put it mildly. But she could hardly blame them after everything UA had been through as of late. They had the right to be cautious.

Of course, there were other reasons she did this, more personal reasons. But she needed to be sure she was making the right decision. She still held so much uncertainty about any of this. However, if not for her doubts, she may have already taken in Eri.

Walking through the empty weekend halls, she found her way to the teacher's lounge. Taking a deep breath, she reached to open the door... as it opened by itself.

Aizawa stared with a flat expression. "Ah, you're here."

Just as she was about to respond, Ryuko heard another voice in the room.

"Mama?"

Her gaze followed the sound of the voice as she laid her eyes on a very familiar and adorable little girl.

"MAMA!!" Eri shouted, springing out of her seat and rushing towards Ryuko.

Thankfully for her, being a popular pro-hero who could turn into a freakin' dragon meant she had plenty of experience handling a ballistic child missile. Catching the girl in her arms, she greeted her.

"Hey there, Eri. I heard you wanted to see me." Her tone was bright and as joyful as she could make it.

Looking at the girl now, she didn't know what she was worried about. How could this ever give her anxiety?

"Yeah, I did... wow, Mama, you're taller and pretty." The girl stared in awe.

'Good grief, this girl is too precious.'

Ryuko hadn't even been here for 5 minutes, and she was already plenty ok with taking care of Eri for a while.
