After seeing Gold using magic the night before, Belle confronted him about it in the morning. When she didn't get an answer from him about why he needed magic, Belle decided to leave.

At the mines, David was helping the dwarves dig for fairy dust. Henry was also there, watching them, when Ruby came by with a basket full of food

"They find anything yet?" she asked the kid, giving him the basket

"No, not yet" Henry answered "But they will. When they do, we'll figure out a way to get Mary Margaret, my mom and my aunt back"

"I'll be back later with lunch" she told him before leaving

Shortly after, David stopped mining. He went to grab his shirt when he noticed his hands covered in dust "I hate mine dust" he said absentmindedly, trying to clean his hands "Leroy!" he called over "If you find anything, I'll be at the Sheriff's station" he informed him

"You're taking over as Sheriff?" the dwarf asked, curious

"Stepping in" David clarified "Until Emma gets back"

David sent Henry to school while went home to shower and change before going to the station

Not having seen Belle since before breakfast, Gold went to check on her, only to find her room empty and with a window opened.

Knowing there was only one other person in town who could be looking for Belle, Gold went to see Mr. Moe French, Belle's father. Moe had made flyer of Belle, still hopping she had survived her time with Rumpelstiltskin and the curse and was now here in town, free. Gold found him in his flower shop, 'Game of Thorns', and confessed Belle had also been looking for her father, who, unfortunately for both of them, hadn't seen her.

Unknown to both men, Belle was at Granny's, drinking iced tea. A lot of iced tea. Ruby noticed this when she approached the young woman with her new drink

"Thank you" Belle said, accepting the drink

"Are you okay?" Ruby asked, sitting down on the other side of the booth "That's your third iced tea this morning. Won't want to call you a cab" she joked

"No, I... I've never had it iced before" Belle explained "It, it's delicious"

"I haven't seen you in here before" Ruby noticed

"Well, I uh, I've been a kept woman until recently" Belle admitted vaguely, not wanting to get into the details

"Let me guess: bad break up?" Ruby said, understanding

"I think I may be headed there" Belle replied sadly

"Do you have a place to stay? Any family here?" Ruby asked, concerned

"I'm not sure, I'm still looking" Belle said "But ', I'm on my own for now"

"I can ask Granny about a room here" Ruby offered

"Really?" Belle asked surprised, to which Ruby nodded in response "Thanks, uh..." Belle trailed off, realizing she didn't know the other woman's name

"Ruby" Ruby said

"Belle" Belle introduce herself "What I really need though is, is a life. A job" she said

"Well, um, what do you like to do?" Ruby asked her new friend

"I... I do love books" Belle said softly

"The library. It's been closed forever but uh, things are changing now. Maybe they need a librarian?" Ruby suggested
